Fire Magic Cast Iron Griddle: a flat cooking surface for foods that fall through the bars
The Fire Magic Cast Iron Griddle is a cast iron plate that sits in place of a cooking grid on a Fire Magic grill, or on a side burner, for the foods that fall through the bars. Breakfast, smash burgers, fajitas, and vegetables all go on it. Fire Magic makes it in the USA from cast iron, which holds heat like a skillet. It fits the Echelon and Aurora grills and the double side burner.
Season it before the first cook, wipe it while it is warm, and store it dry with a film of oil, since cast iron rusts if it sits wet. On the page you pick the size: one for 18 inch deep grills and single side burners, one for 22 inch deep grills and double side burners. Want a plate that never needs seasoning? See the Fire Magic Stainless Steel Griddle. The Fire Magic Cast Iron Griddle ships free from My Cozy Outdoors with No Sales Tax (except WY) and the full manufacturer warranty.
FAQ
Which cast iron griddle fits my grill?
Two sizes are sold on this page through the Sizes selector: model 3512A for 18 inch deep Fire Magic grills and single side burners, and model 3513A for 22 inch deep grills and the double side burners. Check your grill’s grid depth, 18 inches on the Choice, A540 and A830 style units and 22 inches on the Echelon and larger Aurora grills.
What can I cook on it?
The description suggests breakfast, grilled vegetables and fajitas, anything that would fall through the grids or benefits from a flat searing surface. Set it over a burner in place of a cooking grid or on the double side burner, preheat gradually and oil the surface as you would any cast iron pan.
Does it work on a side burner?
Yes. The description says the griddle is available for the Fire Magic double side burner as well as the Echelon and Aurora grills; the 3512A suits single side burners and the 3513A the double side burners, per the Specifications tab.
How do I care for cast iron outdoors?
Season it before first use, wipe it clean while warm, and store it dry with a light coat of oil to prevent rust between cooks. Bring it indoors or under cover in wet weather rather than leaving it on the grill. See other Fire Magic accessories here.
Is there a stainless version?
Yes. Fire Magic makes 1/4 inch thick 304 stainless steel griddles in three sizes, 3515A, 3516A and 3518, with a removable drip tray, listed separately. Cast iron holds heat for searing; stainless is lighter, does not need seasoning and matches the grill.
