Majestic Marquis II: a tall fire view with glass that reduces glare

The Majestic Marquis II is a direct vent gas fireplace built into the wall. It comes 36 or 42 inches wide. Pick the size on the page. The smaller model has a nearly square window about 36 by 31 inches. Glass that reduces glare lets you see the split logs without mirroring the room. The ember bed glows even without a fire.

It is set up for natural gas, and a propane conversion kit is on the page. Direct vent means a sealed pipe runs to the outside. It brings in air for the fire and carries the exhaust out, so the fire never uses the air in your room. It lights with a button, and a battery backup keeps it running when the power is out. What sizes and heat outputs does the Marquis II offer?

Two: the Marquis II 36 at 44,000 BTU per hour on natural gas (43,500 on propane) and the 42 at 54,500 (47,500 on propane). Both frame at 24 inches deep. That is serious output for a traditional-style fireplace, and it comes with the split-log fire and masonry-look interior the series is known for. How tall is the flame view on the 36-inch model?

The 36 gives you a 35-7/8 by 31-1/16 inch viewing area, a tall, almost square window rather than a low ribbon. That portrait-style opening is what lets you watch the flames wrap around the split logs from bottom to top, closer to a real masonry firebox than most gas fireplaces manage. The 42 stretches the view to 41-7/8 by 39-1/16 inches.

Does the glass reflect the room like a mirror?

No, and that is one of its best tricks. The Marquis II uses anti-reflective glass that cuts glare by 89 percent compared with standard ceramic glass, so from across the room you see fire, not lamps and windows bounced back at you. The glass turns virtually invisible once the flames are up, which lets the masonry-look interior read as an open hearth.

What is the flush hearth option on the Marquis II?

It lets the floor of the fireplace sit flush with your hearth or even the room floor, instead of raised behind a lip. Paired with the tall opening and the split-log fire, the effect is a built-in masonry fireplace, the traditional presentation where the firebox feels like part of the room’s architecture rather than an appliance set into the wall.

Is there a remote, or do I use a wall switch?

Through IntelliFire Touch, Majestic’s control system. You choose a touchscreen remote or a wireless wall switch, whichever fits the way your household actually uses a fireplace. Battery backup is on board as well, so the Marquis II stays ready to warm the room even while the house electricity is down in a winter storm.

Is the Marquis II 36 expensive to run?

You can work it out from the rating. At full input the 36 burns 44,000 BTU per hour, which is 0.44 therms of natural gas, so multiply 0.44 by the therm price on your utility bill for your true hourly cost. For most homes that is a modest price for zone-heating the one room you are actually sitting in.

Can the ember bed glow with the fire off?

Yes. The Ember Bed Glow feature adds depth, color, and authenticity to the hearth with or without a fire, so on a mild evening you can have the fireplace glowing, embers and accent lighting playing over the masonry-look interior, without burning any gas. It keeps the Marquis II the focal point of the room in every season.

A sauna turns your garden into a spa oasis. We debated it for a while, but after renovating our house, we pulled the trigger and bought a sauna from Norse Steam and Maya. She was always super responsive and helpful throughout the process. Don't kid yourself, getting a really nice sauna is not that easy. Sizing and heating need to be figured out, as does the building, but we have always had a helpful partner on our side. We purchased the 3-person sauna for our outdoor garden. We chose the cube sauna for the aesthetic and could not be happier.
I assembled by myself except for the 2 large panels (requires a few people). Instructions were good - took me two partial Saturdays to complete and a few hours to unpack and organize in advance of assembly. Had my elec. add a NEMA enclosure on the back for the controller and power for lights and a 2nd panel for the wireless control.

Norse Steam, and specifically Maya, were extremely helpful as I was making the decision for our Sauna. I was able to get all of the necessary details to make a decision as construction was happening in my backyard to make space for it.

We absolutely love the CL7G. It is extremely comfortable for 6 people (can fit more less comfortably). The Thermory Spruce and Aspen in the interior smells great. The lighting is lovely. We paired the CL7G with the Harvia Spirit 10.5kw.

Smoking Hot Tub!

I got the Norse Steam SaunaLife wood-fired hot tub, the S4N model, and its been seriously great. It heats up quicker than I expected, usually around an hour and a half, and once its hot, it stays that way for a good long while. The wood-fired system is simple to use, and honestly kind of fun.

The tub itself feels solid and well put together. The thermo-spruce exterior looks beautiful in person, and the fiberglass interior is smooth, deep, and easy to clean. Its the kind of setup that just works without a bunch of fuss, which I really appreciate.

Also, the team at Norse Steam was genuinely great to work with. Super helpful, quick to respond, and made the process really easy from start to finish. It felt like they actually cared that I was happy with it. The tub has totally become a go-to way to unwind, and I wouldnt change a thing.

Great Sauna & Purchase Experience

Great sauna and great customer service

We purchased the Finnmark SD-1 sauna. Maya was extremely helpful with the purchase. We had an issue with the sauna not reaching the maximum temperature, and Maya connected us with the appropriate technician that explained how to correct the issue. The sauna now heats to the maximum temperature (170 degrees) in less than an hour, and it is a great unit. We are very happy with it, and we would definitely purchase from NorseSteam if we needed any other items.
