SaunaLife S6B: a seven person black hot tub with the stove inside
The SaunaLife S6B is a black wood fired outdoor hot tub for up to seven people. The stainless steel stove sits inside the tub, which measures 89 inches across and 40.2 inches tall. It arrives fully assembled on a pallet, ready to fill once you set it level. There is no electrical connection needed, so you heat the water by burning logs in the stove. The black spruce surround is made from wood treated with heat. Inside, a thick black fiberglass liner has shaped contours for a comfortable seat.
Matching black steps come with the tub to help you get in and out. The included insulated cover has a dark gray vinyl outer layer and folds for removal and storage. A drain tap lets you empty the water after use. You can also add wood wax, paraffin oil, or cleaner on the page. Prefer a natural wood exterior? See the SaunaLife S6N wood fired hot tub. FAQ
How long does it take to heat, and how much wood does it use?
The SaunaLife S6B heats in under two hours using an internal stainless steel stove with two heat compartments, and keeping the cover on helps it heat faster. Burn only dry, seasoned wood in logs up to 16 inches long, never charcoal. Owners report a few logs per soak, but wood use depends on the starting water temperature and weather.
How do I control the temperature?
You control it with the fire size, since there is no thermostat. SaunaLife's manual says to heat to about 105 degrees at most, so stop adding wood a little before that and let the remaining fire finish heating the water. Stir to even out the warm top and cool bottom, and add cold hose water if it gets too hot.
Does it need electricity or plumbing?
No, it needs neither electricity nor plumbing. Fill it with a garden hose and drain it through the built-in tap. The chimney and cap are included.
Is there anything I must do before lighting the stove?
Yes, fill the tub until the water stands well above the stove section before lighting it, and never heat an empty or frozen tub. Never leave the fire unattended, and let the embers burn out before draining. SaunaLife's manual calls for at least 13 feet between the tub and any building.
How do I keep the water clean?
Drain and refill regularly using the tap to empty the tub, and keep the insulated cover on between soaks. Wipe the smooth fiberglass liner with household detergent and a soft cloth, avoiding abrasives and chlorine-based cleaners on both the wood and liner. The Manual tab has the care guide.
What base does it need?
Your site needs a flat, level, solid base, such as a slab or pavers, that can support the tub's filled weight of 4,187 pounds, listed in the Specifications tab. Lawn is not suitable, and most decks need an engineer's check.
Does it arrive assembled?
Yes, the SaunaLife S6B arrives fully assembled on a wooden pallet with the steps, cover, chimney and cap. Freight delivery is by appointment and curbside only, with the driver lowering the pallet to the ground, so have two or three people available to carry the pieces in. Inspect the crate before signing and note any damage on the receipt.
Can I use it in winter?
Yes, the wood fire heats it in any weather. In freezing weather, SaunaLife's manual says to drain both the tub and stove after each soak and leave the drain valve open, because ice can crack the liner or stove.
