SaunaLife SaunaTrekker XL: a roomy sauna tent for a group
The SaunaLife SaunaTrekker XL is an extra large insulated sauna tent that holds up to six people. Allow about 13 by 14 feet of outdoor space for it. Six windows bring daylight into the room, and three layers help keep the warmth inside. The outer fabric is waterproof, the middle holds fiber insulation, and the inner lining reflects heat inward. It is made for outdoor use in every season. The design comes from SaunaLife, with each tent made by hand in Northern Europe.
The frame stays attached, so the tent pops open in minutes without tools. The box contains the tent, ropes to secure it in windy weather, a carry bag, and instructions. The heater is sold separately, so add the SaunaLife TITAN SL1 gas heater on the page. You can choose a folding bench for seating, plus a heat shield, stones, or a bucket and ladle. FAQ
How hot does a sauna tent get, and how fast?
With the TITAN SL1, it reaches sauna temperature in under 30 minutes. Three layers help hold the heat: a waterproof 420D shell, a polyester fiber fill core, and a heat-reflecting 210D lining.
Which heater do I use? Can I put a wood stove in it?
Use the SaunaLife TITAN SL1 propane heater, sold separately as an add-on on this page for the SaunaLife SaunaTrekker XL. No, a wood stove is not suitable because the tent has no stove jack for a chimney. The TITAN SL1 is approved for tent use only with SaunaTrekker tents.
Is it safe? What about carbon monoxide?
Safe use depends on following both manuals, including their ventilation and clearance instructions. The tent has two upper vents and one lower vent sized for the TITAN SL1, and the heater shuts off its gas if tipped, if oxygen is low, or after 60 minutes. Keep all vents open and leave 6 inches between the heater and fabric, or 4 inches with the heat shield.
How long does setup take?
A few minutes gets the built-in frame popped up, with no tools needed. Then stake the tent and tension the storm lines. Pack it in the carry bag only when dry.
Can I use it in winter, rain, or wind?
Yes, it is designed for four-season outdoor use, with a waterproof coated 420D oxford polyester shell. In wind, stake the tent and tension the included storm lines. Dry it fully before packing to avoid mildew.
Where can I set it up?
Set it up outdoors on level ground, a patio, or a deck, allowing for its 157.4 inches wide by 165.3 inches deep footprint. Keep the TITAN SL1's required clearances from anything wooden, and put a fireproof mat under the heater on a wood deck. Do not use it indoors or in a garage.
How many people fit, and do I need the bench?
Up to six people fit on benches, but plan for four or five if you want room to stretch out or lie down. The folding cedar SaunaTrekker Bench is optional and available on this page. Its upper seat is 31.5 inches high, putting you up in the hottest air.
