FAQ

What is GFRC, and why is the Cazo Planter Bowl made from it?

Glass Fiber Reinforced Concrete — concrete cast with embedded glass fiber, giving the Cazo planter the mass and stone-like surface of poured concrete at a fraction of the weight. That means a bowl this size can actually be positioned, and repositioned, by a couple of people instead of a machine.

What sizes does the Cazo Planter Bowl come in?

Four diameters: 24, 31, 36, and 48 inches. The 48-inch Cazo is a true statement piece for an entry or pool deck, while the 24-inch works flanking a doorway or gate. Every size shares the same low, rounded Cazo silhouette the series is known for.

How many colors can I order it in?

Eighteen GFRC finishes, from Ash, Black, and Bronze through Limestone and Moss Stone to Rustic White and Vanilla. It is the same palette used across The Outdoor Plus concrete line, so the planter can match a concrete fire pit from the same family exactly.

Does it match the Cazo Fire Bowl?

That is the whole idea — the planter comes from the same mold family as the Cazo fire bowls, in the same finishes. Designers run one fire Cazo as the centerpiece, then repeat the identical profile as planted bowls across the patio for a coordinated, resort-style look.

What should I plant in a wide, low bowl like this?

The Cazo shape favors layered, spreading arrangements: succulents, seasonal annuals, ornamental grasses, or trailing herbs that spill over the rim. Your local nursery can match plants to your climate and sun exposure — soil and plants are not included with the bowl.

Does the Cazo Planter Bowl hold fire or water?

No — this version is a dedicated planter, with no burner and no water plumbing. If you want flame or a water spill in the identical shape, The Outdoor Plus casts the same Cazo bowl as a fire bowl and as a planter and water bowl, so a set can mix all three.

Can a concrete planter stay outside all winter?

Yes — GFRC is built for permanent outdoor installation, and the Cazo handles rain and sun without trouble. In hard-freeze climates, treat it like any masonry planter: keep soil draining so it never freezes solid and saturated, and the bowl will weather the season gracefully.

Some silhouettes never go out of style. Named after the traditional Spanish cooking pot it resembles, the Cazo’s clean tapered cone has become The Outdoor Plus’ signature — and one of the most recognizable fire features in outdoor design.

Line a row of them along a raised bond beam, crown a pair of pillars at the spa, or anchor a quiet corner with a single bowl — then repeat the same shape as a fire bowl, fire & water bowl, water bowl, planter, or planter & water bowl. One silhouette, five roles, five finishes, in sizes from intimate to grand.

One Bowl, Five Ways

Cazo Fire Bowl

09Fire Bowls

The classic: a gas burner beneath a bed of lava rock fills the cone with a tall, open flame. Runs on natural gas or liquid propane, match lit or electronic ignition.

Best for: pool decks, pillars & seating areas

Cazo Fire & Water Bowl

12Fire & Water Bowls

Flame on top, waterfall below — while the burner runs, a scupper spills a smooth sheet of water from the bowl into the pool beneath it.

Best for: spa & pool surrounds

Cazo Planter Bowl

16Planter Bowls

No gas, no plumbing — the same sculptural cone finished as an oversized planter, so living greenery can echo your fire and water bowls.

Best for: entries, steps & softening hardscape

Cazo Planter & Water Bowl

18Planter & Water Bowls

Plants grow in the center while water pours from the scupper beneath them — greenery and moving water sharing one bowl.

Best for: pool walls & raised bond beams

Cazo Water Bowl

20Water Bowls

A pure water feature: the bowl fills and continuously spills from its scupper, adding movement, sound and reflection to the poolscape.

Best for: symmetrical spills along the pool edge

What’s Included In Your Bowl

Exploded diagrams of match lit and low voltage Cazo fire bowls and fire and water bowls

Match Lit Bowls

Ship complete with the burner, fire pan, lava rock, coupling, NG or LP gas orifice, whistle-free hose and ventilating mounting plate — light it by hand, no power needed.

Low Voltage Electronic

Adds a pilot igniter and SWEIS valve for flames at the flip of a switch. Every electronic ignition system runs off a low-voltage transformer.

Fire & Water Bowls

Add a scupper and a dedicated water line, so the same bowl that holds the flame also pours into the pool below.

Liquid Propane

LP applications use a brass air-mixer orifice that blends air into the propane for a cleaner-burning flame — preventing soot from staining the bowl and its surroundings.

Natural Gas

NG applications come with a brass orifice mounted directly under the burner. Key valves must be mounted within arm’s reach of the burner.

Mounting Brackets

Fire bowls ship with a mounting bracket that provides ventilation and a secure mount — the warranty is void if it isn’t properly installed.

Fire Media

Top the burner with the included lava rock. Fire glass isn’t recommended on liquid propane — propane is heavier than air and can pool beneath dense glass.

Natural Gas & Liquid Propane · Five finishes · Fire, water & planter combinations — professional installation recommended
