Fire Magic Echelon E1060s Portable Grill with Analog Thermometer: a rolling cart grill with a power burner
The Fire Magic Echelon E1060s Portable Grill with Analog Thermometer is a 48 inch gas grill from Fire Magic’s top line on a rolling stainless steel cart, so it needs no island. Fire Magic builds it in the USA from 304 stainless steel, the grade that holds up best outdoors. Four cast stainless steel burners give 112,000 BTUs, and they are so thick that Fire Magic guarantees them for life. It gives you about 1,050 square inches of cooking space plus a warming rack. The cart carries a 60,000 BTU power burner on one side for a wok or a stock pot, two drawers, a tray for the propane tank, and locking casters.
The grates are Diamond Sear grids, thick stainless steel bars with a flat top for clean sear marks, and flavor grids under them turn drippings into smoke and keep flare ups down. The double walled hood holds heat like an oven, and halogen lights inside light the grates after dark. Push a knob in and a glow plug lights the burner, so plan for an outlet nearby. A dial in the hood shows the oven heat at a glance. Two infrared back burners at the rear run the included rotisserie, so a chicken or a roast turns and bastes itself. On the page you pick natural gas or propane, and a Magic View Window, a glass panel in the hood for checking food without lifting the lid, is optional. An infrared sear burner in the left burner spot for steakhouse crusts is also optional on the page. Prefer a touch screen? See the Fire Magic Echelon E1060s Portable Grill with Digital Thermometer. FAQ
What comes on the cart with the E1060s?
The -51 model number means the 48-inch Echelon grill head is mounted on a stainless cart with a 60,000 BTU power burner beside it, which is why the Key Features list the power burner. The owner’s manual linked in the Catalog tab also lists two drawers, a propane tank tray, a quick disconnect hose and locking casters on the cart.
How much cooking space and heat does it have?
The main grid is 48 by 22 inches, or 1,056 square inches, over 112,000 BTUs of cast stainless steel burners, with a 48 by 8 inch dual-position warming rack above it. Two infrared backburners add 22,000 BTUs for rotisserie work, and the cart-mounted power burner supplies up to 60,000 BTUs for a wok or a stock pot.
How big is the whole cart?
According to the Fire Magic spec guide linked in the Catalog tab, the E1060s stands 52 inches tall with the hood closed and 61 inches open, with the side shelves at 37 inches. The cart base is 77 3/4 inches wide with the power burner, 87 3/4 inches with the shelves folded down and 117 inches with both shelves up, and about 30 1/2 inches deep.
Does it need an electrical outlet?
Yes. The Features tab lists hot surface ignition that needs 110 volt power, and the manual calls for a weatherproof 120 volt, 15 amp GFCI receptacle within reach of the cart’s power cord. That supply also runs the three interior halogen lamps and the rotisserie motor. If power is lost, the manual describes match-lighting through the lighting tubes.
What is the Infrared Sear Burner option?
The Optional Infrared Sear Burner selector on this page fits an infrared searing burner in the left-hand burner position for high-heat searing. The manual notes the infrared burner glows orange in use, must be covered when not in use, and that flavor grids are not used over it. Any price difference appears on the selector.
Can I run it on a propane tank?
Yes. Choose Propane on the Gas Type selector and the cart’s tank tray holds a standard cylinder; natural gas versions connect through the quick disconnect hose listed in the manual’s parts list. Model numbers end in N for natural gas and P for propane, for example E1060S-9EAN-51 or E1060S-9EAP-51. Browse more Echelon grills here.
Is the hood window available on the portable grill?
Yes. This analog-thermometer version can be ordered with the Magic View Window through the selector on this page, giving the -W model listed in the Specifications tab. The window lets you check food without opening the hood. The analog thermometer sits in the hood with a polished bezel angled for easy reading.
