DuraVent DuraChimney II 12 inch Kit Builder: choose a whole chimney on one page
The DuraVent DuraChimney II 12 inch Kit Builder is a page for choosing a complete fireplace chimney, not a boxed kit. You select the parts from the fireplace top to above the roof. Their combined prices make up your total. DuraChimney II is DuraVent’s air cooled chimney, a double wall pipe in 8 to 16 inch sizes for fireplaces that burn wood, oil, coal, or gas. The 12 inch diameter must match your fireplace’s flue collar, the opening that connects to the chimney. For masonry or factory built fireplaces, the fireplace maker must list DuraChimney II for use. Each chimney serves one fireplace.
Start with the required pipe selection: sections 12, 18, 36, or 48 inches long, in the quantities you need. To move the run sideways, choose 15 or 30 degree elbows. They are sold individually, and each sideways shift needs two elbows and an elbow strap. Add the supports, shields, and roof finishing parts your route needs. Wall straps hold the chimney every 8 feet. Need a larger diameter? See the DuraVent DuraChimney II 14 inch Kit Builder. The DuraVent DuraChimney II 12 inch Kit Builder ships free from My Cozy Outdoors with No Sales Tax (except WY) and the full manufacturer warranty.

FAQ
How does the 12-inch DuraChimney II configurator work?
You assemble the chimney here rather than buying a fixed kit. The 12-inch Length of Chimney Pipe row is required (12, 18, 36 or 48 inch sections, any quantity); the elbow and Build Your Chimney Kit rows are optional and hold the anchor plate, firestop spacer, attic and roof shields, chase top flashing and collar, storm collar, cap, copper-pot adapters and snow splitter, each priced on the selector.
Is 12-inch DuraChimney II right for my fireplace?
It suits wood, oil, coal or gas fireplaces with a 12-inch flue collar whose manual lists DuraChimney II as an approved chimney; never fit a chimney smaller than the collar. The chimney is double-wall and air-cooled, unitized so nothing is assembled in the field, listed to UL 103 and ULC S604 and rated for continuous 1000 F flue gases.
How do I work out how many 12-inch sections to buy?
Measure from the anchor plate on the fireplace top to the cap and subtract 1 inch per joint. DuraVent recommends at least 10 to 15 feet of straight chimney above the fireplace outlet at sea level, more at altitude or with elbows, and code requires the cap 3 feet above the roof penetration and 2 feet above any part of the building within 10 feet.
Can the chimney offset, and what supports it?
Two offsets (four elbows) of 15 or 30 degrees are allowed, never steeper, and each offset needs an elbow strap. Support the run with a Wall Strap every 8 feet, use a Supplementary Support once the chimney is taller than 50 feet (each carries 25 feet) and a Stabilizer to keep it centered in the chase. Joints twist-lock; screws are not normally required.
What is the Snow Splitter for?
A Snow Splitter is a wedge-shaped guard fitted on the roof above the chimney so sliding snow and ice divide around the chimney instead of hitting it. It is worth adding on steep or metal roofs in snow country. Choose it in the Build Your Chimney Kit row, along with the Chase Top Flashing or Collar and the Storm Collar that finish the top.
What clearance and firestopping does DuraChimney II need?
Keep 2 inches of air space to combustibles, run the chimney in an enclosed chase, fit a Firestop Spacer at every floor and ceiling, an Attic Insulation Shield through an attic and a Roof Radiation Shield where it leaves the chase, with a 1/2-inch air gap under the chase top flashing. The DuraChimney II range also covers 8, 10, 14 and 16 inch collars.
