DuraVent FasNSeal Standard Wall Mount Insulated Kit: three parts for venting through the wall behind your appliance
The DuraVent FasNSeal Standard Wall Mount Insulated Kit is a three part vent kit for one wall hung boiler or tankless water heater. It carries exhaust through the wall behind the appliance, not through the roof. The insulated wall thimble is a sleeve that passes through the wall and includes the outside vent ending. An adjustable 90 degree elbow turns the vent, while a universal appliance adapter connects it to the appliance. FasNSeal is DuraVent’s stainless steel vent for high efficiency gas boilers, furnaces, and water heaters, built to carry pressurized exhaust and its acidic condensate outside.
Choose a 3 or 4 inch size on this page. The kit adjusts from 16 1/2 to 21 inches vertically and 8 to 12 1/2 inches out from the wall. It serves natural gas or propane appliances that call for a special gas vent. The appliance maker sets the allowed vent length and whether wall venting is permitted. Live somewhere very wet and cold? FAQ
What is in the FasNSeal Standard Wall Mount Insulated Kit?
An insulated Wall Thimble with termination, an adjustable 90-degree elbow and a Universal Appliance Adapter, the parts to vent a wall-mounted condensing boiler or tankless water heater straight out through the wall behind it. It adjusts vertically from 16-1/2 to 21 inches and horizontally from 8 to 12-1/2 inches; choose 3 or 4 inch on the selector (a 5-inch tankless version also exists).
Which appliances can use FasNSeal?
Natural gas or propane Category II, III and IV appliances, or Type BH vents in Canada, with a maximum rated operating temperature of 480 F and up to 15 inches water column positive pressure: high-efficiency boilers, furnaces, booster and pool heaters, water heaters, unit heaters and tankless heaters. The appliance must be listed for a special gas vent, and its manual sets the maximum vent length.
How do the joints seal?
Each female end has a triple-lipped directional gasket and a built-in mechanical locking band. Push the male end in and turn until half the bead is covered by the flared female end, then tighten the band with a nut driver until snug plus a quarter turn. No sealant or screws are used, and the components that touch exhaust are silicone-free 29-4C or 316L stainless.
Does the horizontal run need a slope or a drain?
Yes. FasNSeal horizontal runs must pitch at least 1/4 inch per foot back toward the appliance so condensate drains, which the thimble’s built-in adjustable length makes easy. If the appliance has no internal drain, DuraVent strongly recommends a Universal Condensate Drain or drain tee close to the flue collar, with a trapped loop in the tubing and disposal per local code.
What clearance to combustibles does the thimble kit need?
It depends on the appliance’s rated flue temperature; the FasNSeal manual’s Table 2 gives the figures. For a 3 or 4 inch single-wall vent at a 300 F rating, unenclosed, that is 4 inches around a horizontal run and 1 inch on a vertical run, more inside an enclosure. The insulated thimble handles the wall pass-through; never fill the clearance space with insulation.
Where can the termination sit on the wall?
Follow the appliance manual and NFPA 54 for distances from windows, doors, air inlets, grade and the gas regulator; DuraVent’s instructions require an obstruction-free exhaust. For very wet, cold sites DuraVent’s Severe Weather kit adds a drain and back-draft preventer. Vent lengths and drains are in the FasNSeal category.
