Fire Magic Refrigerator with Reversible Door Hinge: cold drinks with a door that opens either way
The Fire Magic Refrigerator with Reversible Door Hinge is a compact refrigerator for an outdoor kitchen island, with a plain door whose hinge can be moved to either side. Built in means it slides into a cutout under the counter and its front sits flush with the island face. Outdoors it has to sit inside an island or a cabinet, out of the rain, and it is not built to run below 55 degrees. It needs an opening 34.1 inches high, 20 inches wide, and 21.75 inches deep. It is Fire Magic’s lowest priced way to keep drinks cold in a covered island.
The handle is built into the top edge of the door, and the hinge moves to the other side if the layout changes. It gives you 4.2 cubic feet of space. Inside are two glass shelves that slide out, a shelf that flips up for tall bottles, a door shelf that takes 2 liter bottles, a light, and a lock with a key. A dial with seven settings runs it from 32 to 50 degrees. Plan for an outlet in the island on its own circuit. On the page you pick which side it ships hinged on. Want a stainless steel door that matches the drawers? See the Fire Magic Premium Refrigerator, the same fridge with that door. The Fire Magic Refrigerator with Reversible Door Hinge ships free from My Cozy Outdoors with No Sales Tax (except WY) and the full manufacturer warranty.
FAQ
What does reversible door hinge mean?
The plain 3598 door can be rehung to open from either side. The manual walks through removing the top hinge cover, lifting the door off, moving the lower hinge bracket and door pin to the other side and resetting the gasket, so you can decide the swing after the island is built.
Can it be used outdoors?
Yes, when installed in an enclosure, per the page; the manual adds that it is not designed to operate in ambient temperatures below 55 degrees F. Plug it into a 115 volt, 15 amp GFCI outlet inside the island.
What size is it?
The Specifications tab lists 20 inches wide, 21 3/4 inches deep and 34 1/8 inches high, the same figures the Fire Magic spec guide gives for its cutout, with 4.2 cubic feet of storage and a weight of 78 pounds. Leveling legs adjust the height so the door closes easily.
What is inside?
Two slide-out glass shelves, a flip shelf that folds to fit tall bottles, a door shelf sized for 2-liter bottles, an interior light and a security lock with key, according to the manual and the page. A seven-position dial holds the cabinet between 32 and 50 degrees F. See other outdoor refrigerators here.
How does it differ from the premium 3598-DR?
Same cabinet, capacity and controls. The premium version adds a stainless steel door with a heavy-duty bar handle and radial corners that match Fire Magic doors and drawers, in a fixed right or left hinge. This model has the standard door with a built-in top handle that can be reversed.
