Fire Magic 30 inch Built In Electric Grill with Window and Dual Control: two heat zones and a window to watch your food
The Fire Magic 30 inch Built In Electric Grill with Window and Dual Control is a 30 inch built in electric grill. Built in means it slides into a cutout in an outdoor kitchen island, so it has no legs of its own. Fire Magic builds it in the USA from 304 stainless steel, the grade that holds up best outdoors. Electric means it heats with elements under the grates, with no gas line and no flame, so it can go where gas is not allowed. It needs its own 240 volt circuit, so plan on an electrician. It gives you about 480 square inches of cooking space plus a warming rack.
The grates are Diamond Sear grids, thick stainless steel bars with a flat top for clean sear marks. Dual control means two heating zones with their own thermostats, so one side can sear at 700 degrees while the other holds warm. A touch screen sets the heat, reads the included meat probe, and connects to your phone through the app. A Magic View Window, a glass panel in the hood, lets you check the food without lifting the lid. Keep it out of open rain, since it is electric. On the page, choose two controls with or without a window, or one control without a window. Prefer no window? See the Fire Magic 30 inch Built In Electric Grill with Dual Control. The Fire Magic 30 inch Built In Electric Grill with Window and Dual Control ships free from My Cozy Outdoors with No Sales Tax (except WY) and the full manufacturer warranty.

FAQ
What electrical circuit does this electric grill need?
A dedicated 240 volt, 30 amp minimum single-phase GFCI circuit breaker, per the Specifications tab and the EL500 manual, wired into the junction box at the rear of the grill with an in-line disconnect or removable plug. The grill is rated at 6,000 watts. Have a licensed electrician run the circuit before the grill arrives.
What does dual control mean?
The 30 by 16 inch grid is split into two independently thermostatic zones, so you can sear on one side at up to 700 degrees F while holding or slow-cooking on the other. The manual shows a zone divider that hooks over the center of the grid to keep the heat separated.
Is the Magic View Window standard on this model?
Yes. The EL500i-4Z1E-W is the dual-control grill with the ceramic glass window in its double-walled lid, so you can watch food without opening it. If you would rather have the lid without the window, or a single-control grill, the Customize Windows and Controls selector on this page switches to those versions, with the price difference shown there.
Can I run it from my phone?
Yes. The black glass touch screen sets the thermostat, and the page notes Bluetooth and Wi-Fi control from a smartphone. A digital thermometer reads the oven and the included meat probe; the manual says to use only the probe supplied with the grill. Preheat takes less than 15 minutes.
What cutout does it need?
Cut the countertop 33 inches wide, 17 1/2 inches deep and 7 1/4 inches high, a much shallower opening than a gas grill. The countertop must be non-combustible, and the Fire Magic spec guide lists an insulating liner for combustible enclosures. Leave access behind the grill to the junction box, where the feed enters through a knockout. See other built-in grills.
Can it stay outside in the rain?
It is an outdoor appliance, but the manual says never to grill in open rain or standing water and never to burn charcoal or any other fuel in it. Install it under a non-combustible cover or in the open, and use the protective cover the manual lists when the grill is idle.
How hot does it get and how long does it take?
The dual heating elements reach up to 700 degrees F for searing, and the page states a preheat time of less than 15 minutes. Thermostatic control holds a set temperature rather than cycling between high and low, and the patented Diamond Sear grids transfer that heat evenly to the food.
