Majestic Biltmore: an open wood fire with a floor level hearth
The Majestic Biltmore is an open indoor wood burning fireplace built into the wall. It comes 36, 42, or 50 inches wide. Pick the size on the page. The smaller sizes have an opening about 28 inches tall. It is an open fireplace with no glass, so nothing sits between you and the fire. Wood burns inside a brick lined firebox. The fireplace floor sits level with the hearth or room floor. Choose classic straight brick rows or herringbone, an angled brick pattern. Radiant means the heat comes straight off the fire, with no fan to wire or run.
Your builder frames a wall around it, runs the chimney, and finishes it in stone, tile, or brick. The chimney pipe is sold separately, so ask us to quote the run. On the page you pick the size and the brick panels. You can add folding glass doors or a mesh front. It can also take a Majestic gas log set, which you can add on the page. The Majestic Biltmore ships free from My Cozy Outdoors with No Sales Tax (except WY) and the full manufacturer warranty.
FAQ
Which Biltmore size does this listing start at?
The base price is the 36 inch model, BILT36, and the Size selector steps up to the 42 and 50 inch units. Viewing areas are 36 by 28-1/2, 42 by 28-1/2 and 50 by 33 inches. The two smaller sizes stand 59-1/4 inches tall and 27-1/2 inches deep; the 50 grows to 70-1/2 inches tall and 29-1/2 inches deep.
Is it radiant or does it use a blower?
Radiant only. The Features tab says this fireplace emits warmth passively with no fan required, which also means no electrical hookup is needed for heat. It is an open-hearth design with a flush hearth, so the fire sits at floor level and the room warms from the direct heat of the flames rather than from ducted air.
What are the brick panel choices?
Every size requires one Interior Panels pick from Traditional or Herringbone brick in Natural Gray, Black Onyx or Masonry Brown, with the price shown beside each option. The Features tab describes the herringbone as an angled brick-and-mortar look and the traditional as classic masonry-style panels, so the choice is purely visual and does not change the firebox.
Can I close it off with doors or a screen?
The Fronts and Doors selector offers glass bi-fold doors in black or stainless plus Grand Vista mesh fronts sized to each unit: 60 for the 36, 80 for the 42 and 100 for the 50. Their manuals are linked in the Manuals tab. Doors are add-ons, so tick them in the order flow if you want them shipped with the fireplace.
Are gas logs an option for the Biltmore?
Yes. The description notes gas log sets are available, and the page selectors let you configure a set with a Timberland front log and a natural gas or propane burner for the size you chose. Read the installation manual’s gas log provisions before adding any gas appliance to a wood-burning firebox, and plan the gas line during the build.
What clearances does the architect guide show for the 42 inch unit?
The Biltmore 42 architect guide calls for a 20 inch deep hearth extension across a 66 inch width, 7 feet from the base of the fireplace to the ceiling, 2 inches of air space around the chimney and a header that must not be notched. It also reminds you to set the unit 1/2 inch proud of the framing face. Use the installation manual for final numbers.
Which sizes ship to Canada?
The description says the 50 inch model is not available in Canada, while the 36 and 42 carry both the US UL 127 and Canadian ULC S610 listings in the architect guide. Compare it with other indoor fireplaces if you need a specific size for a Canadian installation.
