Majestic Fortress: one fire for the living room and patio
The Majestic Fortress is a see through direct vent gas fireplace set in an outside wall. See-Through means one side faces the living room and the other faces the patio. It comes in one size, with a 36 by 30 inch window on each side. The sealed stainless steel box is built for weather. Brick panels frame the fire. It puts out up to 56,000 BTU for warmth indoors and near the patio side.
It is set up for natural gas, and a propane conversion kit is on the page. Direct vent means a sealed pipe runs to the outside. It brings in air for the fire and carries the exhaust out, so the fire never uses the air in your room. It lights with a button, and a battery backup keeps it running when the power is out. On the page you pick traditional brick panels or herringbone panels, with bricks in a zigzag pattern. You can add a touchscreen remote, wall switch, or Wi-Fi module. Need a smaller window? FAQ
What makes the Fortress ready to face the weather?
It is built of stainless steel and sealed, so the outdoor face can take rain, humidity, and temperature swings while the indoor face stays a finished part of the living room. That construction is the whole idea of the Fortress: one fireplace, half in the house and half in the elements, at home in both.
How large is the glass on each side?
Each face frames a 36 by 30 inch viewing area. That 30 inch height gives the fire real vertical presence, showing the full body of the flames rather than a letterbox slice, so the same fire carries visually across a living room on one side and a patio on the other.
Does the patio side deliver real warmth?
Yes. The burner is rated at 56,000 BTU per hour on natural gas, and the outdoor seating area benefits from every bit of it on a cool night. Put chairs near the outside face and the Fortress doubles as a dedicated patio fireplace while the household enjoys the same fire from indoors.
Can I run it without walking to the other side?
Yes. IntelliFire Touch gives you a touchscreen remote control or a wireless wall switch, so the fire answers from wherever you happen to be sitting, indoors or out. Battery backup is built in as well, keeping warmth available even when a winter storm takes the household power down with it.
How much wall space should I plan for?
Framing runs 49-1/2 inches wide and 44-7/8 inches high, with a framing depth of 23 inches. Since the unit presents a finished face in two directions, plan that wall section with both rooms in mind from the start; it is easier to design around those numbers than to retrofit them.
Fortress or Twilight – which see-through fits my project?
Both put one fire between an indoor room and an outdoor space, so it comes down to scale. The Fortress brings the taller 36 by 30 inch view and a 56,000 BTU burner; the Twilight runs a 35-5/8 by 21-1/2 inch view at 38,000 BTU, a lighter touch for smaller walls. Compare them among our multi-sided fireplaces.
Will an opening in an exterior wall leak cold air?
Not with this design. The Fortress is a sealed unit: its venting system carries combustion fumes and exhaust away efficiently while the sealed stainless body keeps indoor air and outdoor air on their proper sides. You get a fireplace serving two environments without turning the wall between them into a draft.
