Majestic Sovereign: an open wood fireplace with two ways to warm up
The Majestic Sovereign is a wood burning fireplace built into an indoor wall. It comes 36 or 42 inches wide. Pick the size on the page. The opening is about 23 inches tall. Brick panels line the firebox. It is an open fireplace with no glass, so nothing sits between you and the fire. Radiant means the heat comes straight off the fire, with no fan to wire or run.
Your builder frames a wall around it, runs the chimney, and finishes it in stone, tile, or brick. The chimney pipe is sold separately, so ask us to quote the run. On the page you pick the size and radiant or heat circulating. Heat circulating means a fan kit can push warm air into the room. You can add folding glass doors and a fan kit. It can also take a Majestic gas log set, which you can add on the page. Comparing wood fireplaces? See the Majestic Royalton wood burning fireplace. The Majestic Sovereign ships free from My Cozy Outdoors with No Sales Tax (except WY) and the full manufacturer warranty.

FAQ
What is the difference between the Radiant and Heat Circulating versions?
The Burner Type selector switches between the SA36R radiant unit, which heats passively with no fan, and the SA36C heat-circulating firebox that moves warmed air into the room; the FK23 fan kit manual linked in the Manuals tab belongs to the circulating model. Both share the same 36 by 23-3/8 inch opening.
Which sizes are on this page?
The Size selector offers the 36 and 42 inch Sovereign; both are 41 inches tall and 22-3/4 inches deep, with the 42 six inches wider at 48 inches. Framing per the architect guide is 43 inches wide, 41-1/2 inches tall and 23 inches deep for the 36, plus drywall thickness if the chase interior is finished.
Which doors fit it?
Glass bi-fold doors in black or stainless and a Grand Vista mesh front are offered for both burner types, and the heat-circulating version can also take a gasketed glass door. Pick them under Fronts and Doors, where the price for each is shown; the manual treats glass doors as optional equipment.
What does the owner's manual say about outside air and gas logs?
Outside air is optional but supplies combustion air, and the page sells an outside air kit, flex duct and a chimney air kit for SL300 chimney. Vented gas log sets may be installed with provisions made at installation; the manual is specific about which gas appliances are acceptable, so read that section before planning a conversion.
How far from the ceiling and walls?
The Sovereign 36 architect guide asks for a minimum of 6 feet from the base of the fireplace to the ceiling, 3/4 inch to the sides and back except 1/2 inch at the nailing flanges, 2 inches of air around the pipe and 12 inches from the opening to a perpendicular wall. Compare other Majestic wood burning fireplaces before framing.
What hearth does it need?
The guide specifies an HX3 or HX4 hearth extension or equivalent insulation, finished 16 inches in front and 8 inches to each side of the opening, with the metal hearth strips extending 2 inches beyond the opening. The page offers a hearth extension kit under Venting and Hearth if you would rather buy the board with the unit.
Is a grate included and what wood should I use?
Yes, the owner’s manual lists the GR18 grate and a firescreen as supplied parts and says to replace the grate only with an approved one. Burn dry, seasoned firewood with the flue damper fully open; the manual’s troubleshooting links smoke and poor heat to wet wood or a partly closed damper.
