Osburn 1700 wood stove: a mid size stove with a built in ash pan and a 7 hour burn
The Osburn 1700 wood stove is a freestanding wood stove for indoor use. Osburn rates it for 500 to 1,800 square feet, so it can heat a mid size open room or a small house. It has a cast iron door and an ash pan you can empty without a shovel. It stands on the floor on a hearth pad, the fireproof panel that goes under a stove, and vents up through a stovepipe into a chimney.
Load it up and turn the air down, and it burns up to 7 hours. At full burn it puts out up to 65,000 BTU. A blower, a quiet fan that pushes the heat out into the room, is optional on the page. You pick the door overlay on the page, the trim around the glass door, in black or brushed nickel. You also pick how it stands: on legs or on a pedestal base. An outside air kit, which feeds the fire air from outdoors, is optional. It burns dry, seasoned firewood. What size space is the Osburn 1700 designed for?
It is designed to meet the needs of smaller spaces, with a recommended heating area of 500 to 1,800 square feet and a maximum heat output of 65,000 BTU/h. Among Osburn wood stoves, it is the smallest, the step below the 2000-class models.
Does it have an ash pan?
Yes, a built-in ash pan is part of the design, alongside a cast iron door, high-density bricks, a stainless steel heat shield added to the C-Cast baffle, and a top heat deflector that redirects heat toward the front of the unit where you feel it.
Do I choose legs or a pedestal?
Yes. The Pedestal / Legs selector on this page is a required choice: traditional or straight legs in black or brushed nickel, or a pedestal base. Note that the matching fresh air intake kit differs between the leg and pedestal versions, and both kits are offered on this page.
Is a blower included with this stove?
No. A 130 CFM variable speed blower is available as an add-on under Other Accessories on this page, so you can include fan-assisted heat distribution in the same order if you want it rather than paying for a fan you might not need.
How long does it burn per load?
Maximum burn time is 7 hours. The firebox has an overall volume of 1.86 cubic feet with an EPA loading volume of 1.44 cubic feet, and Osburn recommends dry cordwood cut to 16 inches to reach the rated output and burn times.
What clearance and floor protection will I need?
The 1700’s side panels are specifically there to reduce its clearances, but the binding numbers are the ones in the owner’s manual for your configuration. For the floor, black steel, tempered glass and tinted tempered glass hearth pads, plus modular floor protection, are available on this page.
Can I customize how it looks?
Yes. Osburn offers refined door overlays, a choice of leg designs and a glass ash lip for this model. The door overlay in black or brushed nickel and the leg or pedestal style are required selections on this page, and the glass ash lip is an optional add-on.

A sauna turns your garden into a spa oasis. We debated it for a while, but after renovating our house, we pulled the trigger and bought a sauna from Norse Steam and Maya. We purchased the 3-person sauna for our outdoor garden. We chose the cube sauna for the aesthetic and could not be happier.
I assembled by myself except for the 2 large panels (requires a few people). Instructions were good - took me two partial Saturdays to complete and a few hours to unpack and organize in advance of assembly. Had my elec. add a NEMA enclosure on the back for the controller and power for lights and a 2nd panel for the wireless control.

Norse Steam, and specifically Maya, were extremely helpful as I was making the decision for our Sauna. I was able to get all of the necessary details to make a decision as construction was happening in my backyard to make space for it.
We absolutely love the CL7G. It is extremely comfortable for 6 people (can fit more less comfortably). The Thermory Spruce and Aspen in the interior smells great. The lighting is lovely. We paired the CL7G with the Harvia Spirit 10.5kw.

Smoking Hot Tub!
I got the Norse Steam SaunaLife wood-fired hot tub, the S4N model, and its been seriously great. It heats up quicker than I expected, usually around an hour and a half, and once its hot, it stays that way for a good long while. The wood-fired system is simple to use, and honestly kind of fun.
The tub itself feels solid and well put together. The thermo-spruce exterior looks beautiful in person, and the fiberglass interior is smooth, deep, and easy to clean. Its the kind of setup that just works without a bunch of fuss, which I really appreciate.
Also, the team at Norse Steam was genuinely great to work with. Super helpful, quick to respond, and made the process really easy from start to finish. It felt like they actually cared that I was happy with it. The tub has totally become a go-to way to unwind, and I wouldnt change a thing.

Great Sauna & Purchase Experience
Great experience purchasing Finnmark FD-2 from Norse Steam. Good communication and easy to assemble. Temperature increases quickly (30 minutes or less to 140) and maintains well. So far this has been a great purchase.

Great sauna and great customer service
We purchased the Finnmark SD-1 sauna. Maya was extremely helpful with the purchase. We had an issue with the sauna not reaching the maximum temperature, and Maya connected us with the appropriate technician that explained how to correct the issue. The sauna now heats to the maximum temperature (170 degrees) in less than an hour, and it is a great unit. We are very happy with it, and we would definitely purchase from NorseSteam if we needed any other items.
