Real Fyre G31 Mountain Crest Split: a vented gas log set with split timber detail
The Real Fyre G31 Mountain Crest Split is a vented gas log set. It copies split mountain timber, with cut faces and exposed inner grain. The rugged bark suits a rustic room. It is a vented set, so it needs a real fireplace with a working chimney and burns with the damper open. You get the tallest and most natural flames, and most of the heat goes up the chimney. It comes in six sizes, from 18 to 39 inches. Measure your firebox at the front, at the back, and front to back, and if you land between two sizes, take the smaller set.
Each log is molded from a real piece of wood, cast in a ceramic made for high heat with a steel rod inside, and painted by hand. The price is for the logs only. On the page you pick natural gas or propane and add the G31 burner. You also pick how it lights: by hand with a match on natural gas, with a knob and a pilot light that stays lit, or with a remote. The G31 burner is built in three tiers, so the flames rise up through the logs instead of under them, and you get a taller, fuller fire on less gas than a flat burner gives. What is different about a tiered burner versus a flat one?
A flat burner throws flame from one plane, so fire licks around the log stack. The MCS sits on the G31, which stacks its burner across three rising tiers, sending flame up through the logs in stages. The result is a taller, fuller fire body woven through the wood, on fewer BTUs than other vented systems draw.
How does Mountain Crest Split differ from the Mountain Crest Oak set?
Same mountain-timber family, different cut. The MCS models split cordwood, with cleaved faces and exposed inner grain against rugged bark, while the MCO version keeps its trunks whole and round. Sizes and the G31 platform match across both, so the choice is purely which woodpile you want to look at all winter.
What is the widest fireplace the MCS can handle?
Up to a 39-inch opening. The run goes MCS-18 through MCS-24, MCS-30, MCS-33, and MCS-39, five sizes, which is broader coverage for a wide indoor fireplace than most log lines offer. Measure front width, back width, and depth, and choose the smaller set when your opening falls between two sizes.
Does this set depend on household electricity?
Only if you choose electronics. Ordered match-lit or with a standing pilot valve, the MCS needs no house power at all and keeps burning through an outage. The electronic ignition and remote-control valve options rely on batteries or power, so buyers who want the fireplace as backup warmth usually pick the simpler controls.
Who should set up a gas log system like this?
A licensed gas professional. Setting the MCS means placing the G31 burner, connecting and leak-testing the gas line, clamping the damper open, and arranging each log per the Mountain Crest Split placement instructions. It is typically a short job for a pro, and correct setup determines both safety and how good the tiered flame looks.
My fireplace is fully vented. Do I need ventless logs instead?
No, vented logs are the natural match; the MCS is built for exactly that firebox, burning with the damper open like a wood fire. The rule only runs one direction: a vent-free set may go into a vented fireplace, but a vented set like this must never operate without an open flue.
How much gas will an evening fire burn through?
Less than the flame suggests on this platform. Consumption follows the burner’s BTU rating and your flame setting, and the G31 was engineered to build its tall, full fire while drawing fewer BTUs than comparable vented burners. Expect usage in the range of a large stovetop burner rather than a furnace, scaled to the MCS size you install.

A sauna turns your garden into a spa oasis. We debated it for a while, but after renovating our house, we pulled the trigger and bought a sauna from Norse Steam and Maya. Sizing and heating need to be figured out, as does the building, but we have always had a helpful partner on our side. We purchased the 3-person sauna for our outdoor garden. We chose the cube sauna for the aesthetic and could not be happier.
I assembled by myself except for the 2 large panels (requires a few people). Instructions were good - took me two partial Saturdays to complete and a few hours to unpack and organize in advance of assembly. Had my elec. add a NEMA enclosure on the back for the controller and power for lights and a 2nd panel for the wireless control.

Norse Steam, and specifically Maya, were extremely helpful as I was making the decision for our Sauna. I was able to get all of the necessary details to make a decision as construction was happening in my backyard to make space for it.
We absolutely love the CL7G. It is extremely comfortable for 6 people (can fit more less comfortably). The Thermory Spruce and Aspen in the interior smells great. The lighting is lovely. We paired the CL7G with the Harvia Spirit 10.5kw.

Smoking Hot Tub!
I got the Norse Steam SaunaLife wood-fired hot tub, the S4N model, and its been seriously great. It heats up quicker than I expected, usually around an hour and a half, and once its hot, it stays that way for a good long while. The wood-fired system is simple to use, and honestly kind of fun.
The tub itself feels solid and well put together. The thermo-spruce exterior looks beautiful in person, and the fiberglass interior is smooth, deep, and easy to clean. Its the kind of setup that just works without a bunch of fuss, which I really appreciate.
Also, the team at Norse Steam was genuinely great to work with. Super helpful, quick to respond, and made the process really easy from start to finish. It felt like they actually cared that I was happy with it. The tub has totally become a go-to way to unwind, and I wouldnt change a thing.

Great Sauna & Purchase Experience
Great experience purchasing Finnmark FD-2 from Norse Steam. Good communication and easy to assemble. Temperature increases quickly (30 minutes or less to 140) and maintains well. So far this has been a great purchase.

Great sauna and great customer service
We purchased the Finnmark SD-1 sauna. Maya was extremely helpful with the purchase. We had an issue with the sauna not reaching the maximum temperature, and Maya connected us with the appropriate technician that explained how to correct the issue. The sauna now heats to the maximum temperature (170 degrees) in less than an hour, and it is a great unit. We are very happy with it, and we would definitely purchase from NorseSteam if we needed any other items.
