Superior Ashton White Birch Outdoor: birch gas logs with a match lit burner for the patio fireplace
The Superior Ashton White Birch Outdoor is a vented gas log set for an outdoor wood burning fireplace. The logs are the same as the indoor set, cast from real birch and hand painted, with white bark and dark knots. Tall yellow flames rise between them over glowing embers. The logs come 24, 30, or 36 inches long.
What changes for outdoor use is the burner. It is stainless steel and lights with a match, with no pilot, no remote, and no electronics to fail in the weather. The burner is not included. Pick the size on the page. On the page you pick the log size and then the matching burner. It is built for natural gas. Vented means the fireplace needs a real flue, and you leave the damper open. What is different about the outdoor version of the Ashton White Birch logs?
The logs are the same hand-painted refractory birch set in 24, 30 and 36 in sizes, but the burner is the outdoor Dual-Burner: a match-lit stainless steel burner system built for weather, with no electronics to fail outside. Choose the log size on the Size selector and the matching burner on the Burner selector. It is meant for a fully vented outdoor fireplace with the damper wide open.
How is a match-lit burner lit?
By hand, with a long match or lighter, after opening the manual gas valve; there is no pilot, remote or battery, which is exactly why Superior specifies it for outdoor use where standing pilots blow out. Because it has no safety pilot, local codes may require a specific shutoff valve arrangement, so have a qualified gas installer fit it and follow the burner manual linked in the Manuals tab.
How much heat does it give and what fireplace size do I need?
The Specifications tab lists 55,000 BTU for the 24 in set and 65,000 BTU for the 30 and 36 in sets on natural gas. Superior’s vented logs brochure asks for a fireplace at least 36, 42 or 48 in wide at the front, 24, 30 or 36 in at the rear, 18 in deep and 24 in high for the three sizes, with a working flue.
Natural gas or propane?
The Burner selector for each size lists the natural gas match-lit burner only, which is the outdoor system Superior catalogs. If you need propane for an outdoor fireplace, contact us before ordering so we can confirm what IHP offers rather than assuming a conversion. See more vented gas logs for indoor and outdoor styles.
Does it need the damper open?
Yes, completely. The Features tab says the set is for use in fully vented outdoor fireplaces operated with the damper completely open, so all combustion products go up the flue. That also means most of the heat leaves with them; buy it for the look and the warmth in front of the opening rather than as a heater.
How many pieces are in the set and how are they arranged?
Seven logs in the 24 in set, eight in the 30 and nine in the 36, per the Specifications tab, all cast refractory with the white birch bark detail. The Ashton White Birch placement guide linked in the Manuals tab shows the exact layout on the Dual-Burner grate, and the logs must be placed as drawn; they fit only Dual-Burner burners of the same size.

A sauna turns your garden into a spa oasis. We debated it for a while, but after renovating our house, we pulled the trigger and bought a sauna from Norse Steam and Maya. We purchased the 3-person sauna for our outdoor garden. We chose the cube sauna for the aesthetic and could not be happier.
I assembled by myself except for the 2 large panels (requires a few people). Instructions were good - took me two partial Saturdays to complete and a few hours to unpack and organize in advance of assembly. Had my elec. add a NEMA enclosure on the back for the controller and power for lights and a 2nd panel for the wireless control.

We absolutely love the CL7G. It is extremely comfortable for 6 people (can fit more less comfortably). The Thermory Spruce and Aspen in the interior smells great. The lighting is lovely. We paired the CL7G with the Harvia Spirit 10.5kw.

Smoking Hot Tub!
I got the Norse Steam SaunaLife wood-fired hot tub, the S4N model, and its been seriously great. It heats up quicker than I expected, usually around an hour and a half, and once its hot, it stays that way for a good long while. The wood-fired system is simple to use, and honestly kind of fun.
The tub itself feels solid and well put together. The thermo-spruce exterior looks beautiful in person, and the fiberglass interior is smooth, deep, and easy to clean. Its the kind of setup that just works without a bunch of fuss, which I really appreciate.
Also, the team at Norse Steam was genuinely great to work with. Super helpful, quick to respond, and made the process really easy from start to finish. It felt like they actually cared that I was happy with it. The tub has totally become a go-to way to unwind, and I wouldnt change a thing.

Great Sauna & Purchase Experience
Great experience purchasing Finnmark FD-2 from Norse Steam. Good communication and easy to assemble. Temperature increases quickly (30 minutes or less to 140) and maintains well. So far this has been a great purchase.

Great sauna and great customer service
We purchased the Finnmark SD-1 sauna. Maya was extremely helpful with the purchase. We had an issue with the sauna not reaching the maximum temperature, and Maya connected us with the appropriate technician that explained how to correct the issue. The sauna now heats to the maximum temperature (170 degrees) in less than an hour, and it is a great unit. We are very happy with it, and we would definitely purchase from NorseSteam if we needed any other items.
