Superior Smoky Weathered Oak Outdoor: weathered oak gas logs with a match lit burner for outside
The Superior Smoky Weathered Oak Outdoor is a vented gas log set for an outdoor wood burning fireplace. The logs are the same as the indoor set. They are cast from real oak and hand painted in soft grays and browns, like wood that sat outside for a few seasons. Tall yellow flames rise between them over glowing embers. The logs come 24, 30, or 36 inches long.
What changes for outdoor use is the burner. It is stainless steel and lights with a match, with no pilot, no remote, and no electronics to fail in the weather. The burner is not included. Pick the size on the page. On the page you pick the log size and then the matching burner. It is built for natural gas. Vented means the fireplace needs a real flue, and you leave the damper open. What comes with the outdoor Smoky Weathered Oak log set?
The hand-painted cast refractory Smoky Weathered Oak logs in the size you pick (24, 30 or 36 in). The outdoor match-lit stainless steel Dual-Burner is a required add-on on the Burner selector, and the logs are certified only for that burner. There are no remote or switch options because a match-lit burner has no ignition electronics.
How much heat and what fireplace size?
The Specifications tab lists 55,000 BTU for the 24 in set and 65,000 BTU for the 30 and 36 in sets on natural gas. Superior’s vented logs brochure asks for a front width of at least 36, 42 or 48 in, a rear width of 24, 30 or 36 in, 18 in depth and 24 in height, in a fully vented outdoor fireplace with a working flue and the damper open.
Can I use it in an indoor fireplace?
This listing is the outdoor version with the weatherproof match-lit burner. For an indoor fireplace choose the indoor Smoky Weathered Oak set, which pairs the same logs with the electronic ignition Dual-Burner and a remote. Both need a fully vented wood-burning fireplace with the damper completely open; the burner manual sets the damper opening required.
Is it natural gas only?
The Burner selector lists natural gas match-lit burners only. Contact us before ordering for a propane outdoor fireplace so we can confirm the right burner rather than assuming a conversion. Superior’s outdoor fireboxes that take this set are in our outdoor gas fireplaces category.
How do I light a match-lit burner?
Open the manual gas valve and light the burner by hand with a long match or lighter, following the burner manual linked in the Manuals tab. There is no standing pilot, which is why it suits outdoor use, but it also means no remote or thermostat control. A qualified gas installer should fit the burner and valve to local code.
How are the logs placed?
Per the Smoky Weathered Oak placement guide linked in the Manuals tab: rear log first on the rear grate bars, front log pushed forward against the grate fingers, then the middle and top logs in the positions drawn for your size. The guide requires the complete set as supplied, with no modification, and only on the matching Dual-Burner burner.

A sauna turns your garden into a spa oasis. We debated it for a while, but after renovating our house, we pulled the trigger and bought a sauna from Norse Steam and Maya. Sizing and heating need to be figured out, as does the building, but we have always had a helpful partner on our side. We purchased the 3-person sauna for our outdoor garden. We chose the cube sauna for the aesthetic and could not be happier.
I assembled by myself except for the 2 large panels (requires a few people). Instructions were good - took me two partial Saturdays to complete and a few hours to unpack and organize in advance of assembly. Had my elec. add a NEMA enclosure on the back for the controller and power for lights and a 2nd panel for the wireless control.

Norse Steam, and specifically Maya, were extremely helpful as I was making the decision for our Sauna. I was able to get all of the necessary details to make a decision as construction was happening in my backyard to make space for it.
We absolutely love the CL7G. It is extremely comfortable for 6 people (can fit more less comfortably). The Thermory Spruce and Aspen in the interior smells great. The lighting is lovely. We paired the CL7G with the Harvia Spirit 10.5kw.

Smoking Hot Tub!
I got the Norse Steam SaunaLife wood-fired hot tub, the S4N model, and its been seriously great. It heats up quicker than I expected, usually around an hour and a half, and once its hot, it stays that way for a good long while. The wood-fired system is simple to use, and honestly kind of fun.
The tub itself feels solid and well put together. The thermo-spruce exterior looks beautiful in person, and the fiberglass interior is smooth, deep, and easy to clean. Its the kind of setup that just works without a bunch of fuss, which I really appreciate.
Also, the team at Norse Steam was genuinely great to work with. Super helpful, quick to respond, and made the process really easy from start to finish. It felt like they actually cared that I was happy with it. The tub has totally become a go-to way to unwind, and I wouldnt change a thing.

Great Sauna & Purchase Experience
Great experience purchasing Finnmark FD-2 from Norse Steam. Good communication and easy to assemble. Temperature increases quickly (30 minutes or less to 140) and maintains well. So far this has been a great purchase.

Great sauna and great customer service
We purchased the Finnmark SD-1 sauna. Maya was extremely helpful with the purchase. We had an issue with the sauna not reaching the maximum temperature, and Maya connected us with the appropriate technician that explained how to correct the issue. The sauna now heats to the maximum temperature (170 degrees) in less than an hour, and it is a great unit. We are very happy with it, and we would definitely purchase from NorseSteam if we needed any other items.
