The Plunge Supplier Stainless Steel Cold Plunge Barrel With Chiller - GD-SS02

The Plunge Supplier GD-SS02 Stainless Steel Cold Plunge Barrel with Chiller: an upright barrel in two sizes

The Plunge Supplier GD-SS02 Stainless Steel Cold Plunge Barrel with Chiller is a one person kit for indoor or sheltered outdoor soaks. Climb in and sit upright with water around your shoulders. No steps or ladder are included. Choose 32 inches across by 33.5 inches tall, or 40 inches across by 35.5 inches tall for more elbow room. Both hold 105 gallons. 304 is the standard stainless grade; 316 costs more and stands up better to salt air and pool chemicals. It runs on a standard 120 volt household outlet, so no electrician is needed.

The chiller is a separate box that sits beside the tub and connects with the hoses in the kit. The included 1 horsepower chiller heats and cools from 38 to 108 degrees Fahrenheit. A paper filter catches debris, and ozone treatment cuts the chemicals needed. You get two filter cartridges, a filter wrench, and thermal covers to hold the temperature between soaks. Underwater lighting changes color. Set the temperature at the panel or through the Tuya or Smart Life phone app. Pick your size and steel grade on this page, with an optional Promax chiller upgrade. Prefer lying down? See the Plunge Supplier GD-SS01 Stainless Steel Cold Plunge Tub with Chiller. Stainless Steel Guide

304 vs. 316 Stainless Steel — What’s the Difference?

Both 304 and 316 are high-quality stainless steels known for durability, corrosion resistance, and strength. The main difference comes down to one added element:

316 Stainless Steel

316 has 2–3% molybdenum, which dramatically boosts corrosion resistance — especially against:

  • Saltwater
  • Chlorides
  • Harsh outdoor environments
  • Chemicals
  • 316 is more expensive (usually 15–30% more) because of its enhanced composition
316 Stainless Steel
304 Stainless Steel

304 Stainless Steel

304 Stainless Steel does not contain molybdenum

  • Great for indoor and general outdoor use
  • Can show pitting or corrosion over time near the ocean or when exposed to salts/chlorine
  • 304 is more budget-friendly while still offering excellent durability

Common Uses

316 Stainless Steel

  • Marine equipment

  • Cold plunge tubs exposed to chlorine or salt

  • Coastal installations

  • Medical and surgical equipment

  • Chemical environments

304 Stainless Steel

  • Appliances

  • Indoor tubs and tanks

  • Furniture

  • Mild outdoor environments

  • Food-grade equipment

Molybdenum

FAQ about Molybdenum

  • Molybdenum is a naturally occurring trace mineral found in soil, plants, and even the human body.
  • It’s essential for human health in small amounts because it helps enzymes function properly.
  • In stainless steel, the molybdenum is tightly bound within the metal alloy and does not leach out in any meaningful way.

So when used in 316 stainless steel, molybdenum is:

  • Not toxic

  • Not harmful to humans

  • Not a health concern, even with daily contact (e.g., water bottles, cookware, cold plunge tubs, medical tools)

5 Years

Tub Body

Covers the tub itself: cracks, material defects and leaks at the joints. Depending on the problem, the manufacturer provides repair instructions or a compensation solution.

How a warranty claim works

  1. Contact us, describe the problem and send photos or a short video. We will help you open the claim with The Plunge Supplier.
  2. The manufacturer's technical team reviews it. If the problem can be fixed on site, they ship the parts free by courier (UPS, FedEx or DHL) along with repair guidance.
  3. For a serious fault that cannot be repaired on site, such as a failed compressor or heat exchanger, the manufacturer may send a replacement unit.

Good to know

  • The warranty covers defects and failures that are not caused by misuse, accidents or damage by the user.
  • Warranty service is built around technical support, free spare parts and repair guidance, not refunds or automatic replacement of a whole unit.
  • Keep your order invoice. It is your proof of purchase for any claim.

FAQ

How do you sit in a barrel-style cold plunge?

Upright, with the water around your shoulders. The Features tab describes the barrel shape as encouraging proper posture and giving generous room for full-body immersion, which is the main reason people choose a barrel over a lay-down tub. It also takes up far less floor space, since the footprint is just the diameter of the barrel.

What is the difference between the 32-inch and 40-inch barrels?

The Size selector switches between a 32-inch diameter barrel about 33.5 inches tall and a 40-inch diameter barrel about 35.5 inches tall, both rated at roughly 105 gallons. The wider one gives broad-shouldered users more elbow room; the 32-inch is easier to fit through a doorway and into a corner.

Should I get the GD-SS02 in 304 or 316 stainless?

Read the Stainless Steel Guide tab on this page: 304 is standard and suits indoor or mild outdoor use, while 316 contains molybdenum for much stronger resistance to salt water, chlorine and coastal conditions. After you choose a size, the 316 upgrade for that size appears on the selector with its price.

Is a chiller included with the barrel?

Yes. The box includes the IA-10HC 1 HP chiller with heating and cooling, hoses, connectors and seals, two filter cartridges, a filter wrench, thermal covers and RGB underwater lighting. The chiller sits beside the barrel and connects by hose. A Promax chiller upgrade is available on the page if you want extra capacity.

What temperatures can it reach?

The Specifications tab lists 38 F to 108 F. The dual-function chiller both cools and heats, so the barrel can serve as an ice bath or a warm soak. Because the water column is tall and narrow, keeping the thermal covers on between sessions helps hold the set temperature and reduces run time.

Can the stainless barrel live outdoors?

The Features tab says it suits indoor and sheltered outdoor environments, and 316 is the better grade if it will see salt air or pool chemicals. Keep the chiller under cover on a dry, level surface with clear airflow. See the cold plunge barrel range for more options.

How is the water kept clean in a barrel plunge?

The chiller circulates the water through a 20-micron filter and built-in ozone disinfection, which keeps it clear between changes with little effort. Keep the covers on, rinse or swap the cartridge when flow slows, and buy spares as a 6-pack from the Accessories selector on this page. The description also notes the stainless surface is hygienic and easy to wipe down.
