Valcourt Antoinette: a wide glass door that slides out of the way
The Valcourt Antoinette is a wood fireplace built for the look of the fire. Valcourt calls it an ambiance fireplace, which means it is built for the look and the sound of a big fire in one room, not to heat the whole house. Valcourt rates it for rooms under 1,000 square feet. It has a wide glass door, and the firebox takes logs up to 18 inches long. NightFlame glass is a dark glass that hides the inside of the firebox when the fire is out and turns clear when it burns. It comes standard. It is a zero clearance fireplace, which means your builder frames it into a wall during construction or a renovation. A chimney runs up from it, so you do not need a masonry fireplace.
The door is a guillotine door: it slides straight up and out of the way. Both the door and the spark screen tuck under the hearth, with a handle you take off when you are done. Close the door for a clean steady fire, or open it and use the screen for the feel of an open fire. It burns dry, seasoned firewood. On the page you pick the brick panels that line the firebox and the finishing trim. The trim is the strip that closes the gap between the fireplace and the wall around it, and it comes in a version for brick or stone or a version for tile. The brick panels come in a classic or a contemporary look. An outside air kit, which feeds the fire air from outdoors instead of from the room, is optional. You can add a glass hearth pad that protects the floor in front or a wood storage box. Want a bigger fire? See the Valcourt Frontenac wood fireplace. The Valcourt Antoinette ships free from My Cozy Outdoors with No Sales Tax (except WY) and the full manufacturer warranty.
