DuraVent DuraBlack Single Wall Stovepipe Kit Builder: choose the parts for your painted stovepipe run
The DuraVent DuraBlack Single Wall Stovepipe Kit Builder is a page for putting together your stove connection from separate parts. You choose the whole run here, and the price is the total of your selections. DuraBlack is DuraVent’s single wall black stovepipe, the pipe that runs from a wood stove to the chimney inside the room. Start with a 6, 7, 8, or 10 inch diameter to match your stove’s smoke outlet. Then choose straight sections 12, 24, or 48 inches long. The 10 inch size comes in 12 and 24 inch lengths only.
Add the fittings your layout needs, such as stove adapters, chimney connectors, or elbows. A stove with its outlet at the back needs a tee, a T shaped fitting. Each pipe end is pressed into shape to keep joints from dripping. Creosote, the residue from wood smoke, drains inside toward the stove rather than escaping at a joint. This builder is for painted black pipe. DuraVent also offers unpainted stainless steel in 6 and 8 inch sizes. Prefer a ready made 6 inch box? See the DuraVent DuraBlack Stovepipe Kit. The DuraVent DuraBlack Single Wall Stovepipe Kit Builder ships free from My Cozy Outdoors with No Sales Tax (except WY) and the full manufacturer warranty.

FAQ
How does the DuraBlack Customize your Kit page work?
The listing has no base price; you build the stovepipe run on the page. Choose the diameter first (6, 7, 8 or 10 inch), then a pipe length row for that size (12, 24 or 48 inch sections) and any extras from the Build your Kit row: slip connector, telescoping length, adapters, tee with clean-out cap, elbows, damper section and trim collar. Each part shows its price on the selector.
What size stovepipe do I need?
Match the stove’s flue collar; DuraVent never allows the stovepipe to be smaller than the appliance outlet unless the stove manual specifically permits it. The painted DuraBlack line runs 6 to 10 inches. If the collar is oval, add the Oval to Round Adapter; if the pipe needs to step up to a larger chimney, use the DuraBlack Increaser, both in the Build your Kit row.
Which parts make a typical stove-to-chimney run?
For a top-exit stove under a DuraVent chimney support box: a Stovetop Adapter if the collar needs one, straight lengths, and a Slip Connector with Trim or Telescoping Length with Trim at the support box to absorb the last few inches without cutting. A Damper Section fits as the first piece out of the stove, and a rear-exit stove usually takes a Tee with Clean-Out Cap plus an elbow.
How much clearance does single-wall DuraBlack need?
At least 18 inches to combustible walls and ceilings. If the stove has to sit closer, DuraVent’s double-wall DVL connector pipe reduces that to 6 inches from walls and 8 inches from ceilings, and DVL is required in manufactured homes. Single-wall pipe may not be enclosed and may not pass through a wall or ceiling; the listed chimney starts at the support box or wall thimble.
How are the joints fastened, and can the pipe be cut?
Each joint takes three sheet metal screws spaced evenly; no sealant is needed. Every joint uses up 1-1/4 inches of length. A length can be shortened by cutting the male end with a hacksaw or tin snips, but the slip connector and telescoping length on this page are designed so most installations never need cutting. DuraBlack elbows are adjustable.
How do I connect this pipe to the chimney?
Into a DuraTech support box the Slip Connector with Trim locks directly. Into a DuraPlus support box or wall thimble use the DVL/DuraBlack Chimney Adapter with Trim, and to another maker’s chimney use its single-wall adapter. All are on the selector; ready-made DuraBlack stovepipe kits are also listed for a standard 8-foot ceiling.
