Fire Magic Aurora A660i Built In Grill: a 30 inch gas grill with cast stainless steel burners
The Fire Magic Aurora A660i Built In Grill is a 30 inch built in gas grill. Built in means it slides into a cutout in an outdoor kitchen island, so it has no legs of its own. Aurora suits cooks who want Echelon burners and grates with a brushed steel face and a dial thermometer instead of a touch screen. Fire Magic builds it in the USA from 304 stainless steel, the grade that holds up best outdoors. Three cast stainless steel burners give 75,000 BTUs, and they are so thick that Fire Magic guarantees them for life. It gives you about 660 square inches of cooking space plus a warming rack.
The grates are Diamond Sear grids, thick stainless steel bars with a flat top for clean sear marks, and flavor grids under them turn drippings into smoke and keep flare ups down. The double walled hood holds heat like an oven, and halogen lights inside light the grates after dark. Push a knob in and a glow plug lights the burner, so plan for an outlet in the island. A dial in the hood shows the oven heat at a glance. A back burner and rotisserie kit for roasting a chicken or a prime rib on a turning spit is optional on the page. On the page you pick natural gas or propane, and a Magic View Window, a glass panel in the hood for checking food without lifting the lid, is optional. Need more cooking room? Features
Diamond Sear Cooking Grids
Diamond Sear Cooking Grids are superior! Diamond Sear Cooking Grids have a patented* design with bars that have a smooth flat top. Each bar is shaped to optimally transfer the heat from the burners to the cooking surface…food cooks faster and more evenly!
Flavor Grids
Flavor Grids perform by allowing heat to rise unobstructed from the burner to cooking grids. They disperse heat quickly and evenly flavor the food by vaporizing juices and minimizing flare ups and grease fires. They are also easy to clean and maintain.
Cast Stainless Steel Burners
Burners Made of ¼” Thick Cast 304 Stainless Steel 304 grade burners weighing up to 12 lbs, featuring a lifetime warranty. Designed with a protective lip above the ports to prevent clogging from grease. Guaranteed for life.

FAQ
Does the Aurora A660i come with a rotisserie?
Not in the base configuration. The listing is the A660i-7EAN without a backburner. Use the Backburner and Rotisserie Kit selector on this page to add the 18,000 BTU stainless backburner together with the heavy-duty motor, solid spit rod, two meat prongs, counterbalance and a polished cover, which is the A660i-8EAN version shown in the photos.
What does the Aurora share with the Echelon series?
The page describes the Aurora as the sister of the Echelon, and it keeps the patented Diamond Sear cooking grids, quarter-inch cast 304 stainless steel burners with a lifetime warranty, flavor grids and a double-wall 304 stainless hood that opens 90 degrees on a spring assist. The differences are in the controls: this grill uses an analog hood thermometer and hot surface ignition rather than a digital touch panel.
What cutout does this 30-inch built-in grill need?
The opening is 31 1/4 inches wide, 23 1/2 inches deep and 11 1/2 inches high, and the spec guide in the Catalog tab shows the same cutout is used by the 30-inch griddle and the built-in pizza oven, so the units line up in an island. The countertop must be non-combustible; a combustible enclosure needs the insulating liner, and the manual asks for 18 inches of clearance.
Does the hot surface ignition need electricity?
Yes. The Features tab says 110 volt power is required: you push the control knob in to energize the hot surface igniter, then turn up the gas. The manual specifies a weatherproof 120 volt, 15 amp GFCI outlet, which also feeds the 12 volt interior halogen lights. If power is unavailable, the manual covers lighting each burner by hand with a long match or lighter.
Can I get a window in the hood?
Yes. The Optional Magic View Window selector on this page adds a glass panel to the lid so you can watch food without opening the hood and losing heat; the upcharge appears on the selector. Fire Magic offers this window on the Aurora A790 and A660 sizes, and the -W suffix in the Specifications tab identifies the window version.
Is this grill available for natural gas and propane?
Both. Pick your fuel with the Gas Type selector before adding the grill to the cart. Natural gas is the A660I-7EAN or -8EAN model and propane is the -7EAP or -8EAP. If you plan to run a propane cylinder inside the island, read the manual’s cylinder and ventilation section first; it requires floor-level venting because propane is heavier than air. Compare other models in the Aurora series.
How much heat and cooking area does it have?
The main grid is 30 by 22 inches, or 660 square inches, with a 30 by 8 inch warming rack above it. Three cast stainless steel burners deliver 75,000 BTUs; each burner weighs up to 12 pounds and has a protective lip above the ports to keep grease from clogging them. The flavor grids underneath vaporize drippings for flavor while limiting flare-ups.
