Fire Magic Echelon E1060i Built In Grill with Analog Thermometer: a 48 inch gas grill with a dial thermometer
The Fire Magic Echelon E1060i Built In Grill with Analog Thermometer is a 48 inch built in gas grill from Fire Magic’s top line. Built in means it slides into a cutout in an outdoor kitchen island, so it has no legs of its own. Fire Magic builds it in the USA from 304 stainless steel, the grade that holds up best outdoors. Four cast stainless steel burners give 112,000 BTUs, and they are so thick that Fire Magic guarantees them for life. It gives you about 1,050 square inches of cooking space plus a warming rack.
The grates are Diamond Sear grids, thick stainless steel bars with a flat top for clean sear marks, and flavor grids under them turn drippings into smoke and keep flare ups down. The double walled hood holds heat like an oven, and halogen lights inside light the grates after dark. Push a knob in and a glow plug lights the burner, so plan for an outlet in the island. A dial in the hood shows the oven heat at a glance. Two infrared back burners at the rear run the included rotisserie, so a chicken or a roast turns and bastes itself. On the page you pick natural gas or propane, and a Magic View Window, a glass panel in the hood for checking food without lifting the lid, is optional. Prefer a touch screen? FAQ
How does the analog E1060i differ from the digital version?
It is the same 48-inch Echelon Diamond grill body, cast stainless burners, Diamond Sear grids, three halogen lamps and twin infrared backburners, but the hood carries a large analog thermometer with a polished bezel instead of the under-glass digital display. You give up the touchscreen, smartphone monitoring and meat probe; you keep the black glass control panel and the same cutout.
How much cooking space does this 48-inch grill offer?
The primary grid measures 48 by 22 inches, or 1,056 square inches, heated by 112,000 BTUs from cast 304 stainless steel burners. The 48 by 8 inch warming rack above it adds 384 square inches according to the Specifications tab. Flavor grids under the cooking grids vaporize drippings and limit flare-ups across that whole area.
What cutout does the enclosure need?
Cut the countertop 50 inches wide, 23 1/2 inches deep and 11 1/2 inches high. The Fire Magic spec guide linked in the Catalog tab adds a 51 3/4 inch control panel width, requires a non-combustible countertop and lists the insulating liner for wood or composite enclosures. The manual asks for 18 inches of clearance from combustibles on all sides.
Does an analog grill still need electricity?
Yes. The Echelon manual calls for a weatherproof 120 volt, 15 amp GFCI outlet within reach of the enclosure. Power runs the electronic ignition, which glows an igniter inside each lighting tube when you press a knob, plus the three interior lights and the rotisserie motor. Without power, the manual covers lighting through the lighting tube with a long match or lighter.
Are the backburners and rotisserie included?
Yes. Two recessed infrared backburners rated 22,000 BTUs combined, each with a stainless cover, are standard, and the owner’s manual linked in the Catalog tab lists the super heavy-duty rotisserie motor and spit rod as standard parts. Keep the motor off the grill when not in use and never run it in the rain, per the manual.
Can I add the Magic View Window?
Yes. Use the Optional Magic View Window selector on this page; it adds a glass panel to the hood so you can watch food without lifting the lid and losing heat, and the upcharge is shown there. With the window the model number gains the -W suffix listed in the Specifications tab. See other sizes in built-in grills.
Is it made for natural gas or propane?
Both. Choose the fuel on the Gas Type selector before adding to cart: natural gas is E1060i-9EAN and propane E1060i-9EAP. Order the right fuel from the start. If a propane cylinder will live inside the island, the manual requires floor-level venting and a cylinder within reach of the regulator hose, since propane is heavier than air.
