SimpliFire Inception: a traditional electric fireplace with video of real flames
The SimpliFire Inception is a traditional style built in electric fireplace for an indoor wall. It is 36 inches wide. The fire is a video of real flames on a screen, and you pick the backdrop behind it, so it looks like a wood fire from across the room. Six crackling fire sounds, or silence. Built in means your builder frames it into the wall and runs tile, stone, or drywall right up to the edge, with no vents or screen showing. Or add the Wescott mantel kit, a finished mantel cabinet, and it stands against any wall with no construction.
It needs no gas line and no chimney. Built into a wall, an electrician hardwires it for 5,000 BTU, enough to take the chill off the room, or 10,000 BTU on a heavier circuit. With the mantel kit it plugs into a wall outlet. Run the flames with or without heat. It comes with a remote, and you can also run it from your phone with the IntelliFire app or by voice through a smart speaker. In the box you get the fireplace and the remote. On the page you pick the front, since the fireplace needs one to finish the opening: Chateau Forge, Folio, or Halston. Compare it with the SimpliFire Built-In electric fireplace. The SimpliFire Inception ships free from My Cozy Outdoors with No Sales Tax (except WY) and the full manufacturer warranty.

FAQ
Does the Inception come with a front, or do I need to order one?
You need to order one. The owner’s manual states that a decorative front must be ordered at the time of appliance purchase, and the front finishes the opening. Choose the Chateau Forge, Folio or Halston front on the Fronts and Doors selector above the price; each shows its own price there. Installation sheets for all three fronts are linked in the Manuals tab.
What is DigitalSpark technology?
Instead of a mechanical flame effect, the Inception displays digital footage of real flames, which is why the description calls it the most realistic electric fireplace. You choose from multiple fire backdrops and pair them with built-in sound effects (six sounds, or none). The result is a dynamic, natural-looking fire that can run with or without the heater.
Can I mount a TV above the Inception?
The owner’s manual says there are no required clearances for wall mounting a TV above this fireplace and that a mantel is not required, although a mantel may be used to lower the operating temperature of the TV. It also advises confirming the actual temperature at the TV against the TV maker’s specifications, since TVs vary. The unit itself is a zero-clearance design.
What is the difference between running it on 120 V and 240 V?
Heat output. The specification lists 5,000 BTU/hr on 120 V and 10,000 BTU/hr on 240 V. The manual says the unit is designed to be hard-wired for either voltage: 120 V needs a minimum 15 amp circuit and 240 V a minimum 20 amp circuit, with a dedicated circuit recommended. Decide the voltage with your electrician before rough-in so the wiring matches.
Can I install it without construction?
Yes, with the Wescott mantel kit. The Features tab says the kit lets you add the fireplace to any room with no construction needed, and the manual notes that mantel-kit installations use a power cord. Add the kit from the Mantel Kit selector; its price is shown there. Otherwise the Inception builds directly into a framed wall opening.
How do I control this fireplace?
Three ways: the IntelliFire app, a smart speaker, or the included remote control. The app and voice control cover on/off, heat, backdrops and sound, so you can set a scene from the couch or from another room. Compare control options across the other models in our electric fireplace collection.
What size opening does the Inception 36 need?
The specification lists a framing width of 42 inches, a framing depth of 8-3/4 inches and a framing height of 34-7/8 inches for the 36-inch model. The architect guide and CAD files in the Manuals tab give the full rough-opening drawings, and the front you choose adds its own finished dimensions, which the front installation sheets show.
