Superior WRT/WCT2000: an affordable wood burning fireplace with a big brick opening and 8 inch pipe
The Superior WRT/WCT2000 is an indoor wood burning fireplace, the simplest one Superior makes. It comes in widths of 36 or 42 inches. Pick the size on the page. Your builder frames a wall around it and finishes it in stone, tile, or brick. The oversized opening runs brick to brick, giving this affordable fireplace a generous view of the fire. Smooth stacked brick panels line the inside. The box is insulated all around. This page sells the WRT model with a smooth face.
It burns real logs and uses an eight inch double wall chimney, which keeps the install simple. The chimney pipe is sold separately, so ask us to quote the run. A log grate, mesh screens, and an outside air damper come with it. The WCT model has louvers that move room air around the firebox and can take a fan. That model is available by request, so contact us before you order if you want it. On the page you can add bi-fold glass doors in black and an outside air kit. It can also take a gas log set later. Want a heavier grate and a larger firebox? See the Superior WRT/WCT3000 wood burning fireplace. The Superior WRT/WCT2000 ships free from My Cozy Outdoors with No Sales Tax (except WY) and the full manufacturer warranty.

FAQ
What makes the WRT/WCT2000 economical?
It is Superior’s entry wood fireplace: an oversized brick-to-brick opening with a full smooth stacked refractory liner, a fully insulated firebox and 8 in chimney pipe (IHP 8DM or 8HT) that keeps installation simple. It comes in 36 and 42 in sizes on the Size selector, framed at 38-1/4 or 44-1/4 in wide, 37-5/8 or 38-5/8 in high and 22 in deep.
What is the difference between WRT and WCT?
WRT is the radiant smooth-faced model; WCT is the circulating version with rolled louvers that move room air around the firebox and accepts the optional fan kit (Blower row, louvered models only). This listing ships the radiant WRT; the description’s ordering note explains that the WCT is available by request, so contact us before ordering if you want the louvered version.
What chimney does it need and how tall?
The IHP 8DM or 8HT double-wall chimney, 8HT required in Canada; chimney components are separate from this listing. The installation manual linked in the Manuals tab sets the minimum and maximum chimney height for the size you choose, and a qualified installer routes it. See more Superior wood fireplaces.
Can I burn gas logs in it?
Yes. The Features tab lists optional gas log sets for the charm of a wood fire with the convenience of gas, and Superior’s vent-free logs brochure is linked in the Manuals tab. Log sets are separate purchases sized to the firebox; the installation manual states which log types are approved and whether a hood is needed.
Are doors and outside air included?
Mesh fire screens and an adjustable outside air damper are included. Black-trim bi-fold glass doors are on the Door selector for each size, and the Outside Air selector adds the collar, hood and flex kit so the fire draws combustion air from outdoors, which the manual suggests planning during rough framing.
What hearth and clearances apply?
A non-combustible hearth extension in front of and beside the opening, plus mantel and side-wall clearances, all set by the installation manual linked in the Manuals tab for the WRT/WCT2036 or 2042. Give your installer that manual before framing; the fully insulated firebox helps performance in colder climates.
