Quad Fire Pit in Hammered Copper: a low square copper fire pit in 36 or 42 inches
The Outdoor Plus Quad fire pit in hammered copper is a low, square gas fire pit with flat sides and a wide ledge around the burner, handmade in the USA in a 36 or 42 inch size. The hammered copper starts bright and deepens into a rich brown patina over the seasons, and the dimpled texture makes that aging read as character.
Order it for natural gas or propane. Light it with a match, or add electronic ignition and start it with a button. A key valve, canvas cover, stainless lid, glass wind guard, bullet burner upgrade, and fire glass are optional. Like copper in a round shape? Browse all our copper fire pits. FAQ
Will the hammered copper on the Quad change color?
Yes, deliberately. Bare copper reacts with sun and weather, deepening from bright penny tones into a rich brown patina over seasons of use — the hand-hammered dimples make the aging read as character rather than wear. Prefer the bright look? Regular cleaning and a cover slow the change dramatically on this copper fire pit.
What sizes does the copper Quad come in?
Two: a 36-inch and a 42-inch square, SKUs OPT-QDCPR36 and OPT-QDCPR42. Both are the same hand-hammered copper over the same square silhouette, so the choice is purely about how much fire and how much footprint your patio wants.
Do I have to pick a fuel type when ordering?
Yes — each copper Quad is built for Liquid Propane or Natural Gas at the factory, with the matching orifice and whistle-free hose included. Order the fuel your patio can actually supply; it is not designed as a user-convertible unit.
What is the lighting procedure?
For a Match Lit Quad: open the gas slowly, hold a long lighter at the burner, and it catches at once. Choose Flame Sense or an electronic ignition at purchase and startup becomes push-button, with the system monitoring the flame while it burns.
How do I safely put out the copper Quad?
Close the key valve and the flame is gone — no water, no ash, nothing to babysit. The copper Quad body stays warm for a while afterward, so let it cool before covering, and never douse hot copper with water, which can spot the finish.
Fire glass or lava rock — which looks better in copper?
In the Quad, fire glass earns its keep: reflective glass against the hammered copper interior doubles up the glow. Lava rock is the quieter, more natural look and is happily mixed underneath with glass as the visible top layer. Functionally the burner does not care either way.
Can the copper Quad run under a roofed patio?
Only with the overhead clearances from the spec sheet and genuine ventilation — the 36- and 42-inch Quad both push serious heat upward. Many owners run them near, not under, roofed areas. Whatever you do, never operate a gas fire feature in an enclosed space.
