Valcourt Arched Waterloo: the biggest Valcourt heating fireplace, with a black arched frame
The Valcourt Arched Waterloo is a wood burning fireplace that heats the house. Valcourt rates it for 1,000 to 2,800 square feet, so it can heat a large home. It has double glass doors in a cast iron frame and a big firebox that takes logs up to 25 inches long. It is a zero clearance fireplace, which means your builder frames it into a wall during construction or a renovation. A chimney runs up from it, so you do not need a masonry fireplace.
Load it up and turn the air down, and it burns up to 11 hours. At full burn it puts out up to 95,000 BTU. The blower, a quiet fan that pushes the heat out into the room, comes with it. Once the fire is going you close the main air control by hand, and the fireplace closes the rest on its own when it senses the right temperature. It meets the current EPA clean air rules. It burns dry, seasoned firewood. The faceplate is the finished frame around the opening, and the black arched one comes with it, along with the molded brick panels that line the firebox. A louver is the vented grille across the top of the faceplate, and you pick its pattern on the page. NightFlame glass is a dark glass that hides the inside of the firebox when the fire is out and turns clear when it burns. It is optional on the page. You can add a forced air kit that ducts some of the heat to another room or a warm air grille, and more on the page. Prefer a crown style frame without a louver pick? See the Valcourt Waterloo wood fireplace. The Valcourt Arched Waterloo ships free from My Cozy Outdoors with No Sales Tax (except WY) and the full manufacturer warranty.
FAQ
How is the arched Waterloo different from the standard one?
Same 4.28 cubic foot firebox, 95,000 BTU and 11 hour burn, but this listing carries the black arched faceplate with the required brick panels and a louver choice (Classic at no charge; Mission, Arabesque or Urban at the price shown), where the FP15 uses a crown-style faceplate. Room size is 1,000 to 2,800 square feet.
How does the smart air control work?
The description explains the patented system: once the fire is established you close the primary air damper manually, then the unit automatically closes the second primary damper and adjusts secondary air when it senses optimum combustion temperature, after which the auxiliary air control modulates the burn. It is EPA 2020 approved and non-catalytic.
How big are the logs and the doors?
Logs up to 25 inches loaded across the width behind double cast-iron framed glass doors with a 33 by 12-3/4 inch opening and 29-3/4 by 13 inch ceramic glass with air wash. The firebox is 25-3/8 wide, 17 high and 17-7/8 deep, lined with moulded refractory bricks.
What chimney and clearances?
An 8 inch chimney, CAN/ULC S604 or UL 103, or S629 UL 103 HT, at least 15 feet high from the approved list on the page. Clearances are 84 inches to the ceiling, 8 inches to a side mantle and 24 inches to a side wall; no shelf clearance is listed. Not approved for mobile homes.
Is a blower included?
Yes, a 176 CFM premium blower per the Specifications tab, and the Options selector adds a forced air kit, 5 inch fresh air termination and register, insulated flex pipe, a modern warm air grille, NightFlame glass and a glass hearth pad. Warranty is listed as limited lifetime on the Specifications tab.
How much does it weigh?
545 pounds shipping weight for a unit 50-3/4 inches wide, 43-3/8 tall and 31-5/8 deep. Efficiency is 64 percent HHV with a 1.6 gram per hour particulate rate. See the other wood burning indoor fireplaces for smaller fireboxes.
