Valcourt Waterloo: the biggest Valcourt heating fireplace, with an 11 hour burn
The Valcourt Waterloo is a wood burning fireplace that heats the house. Valcourt rates it for 1,000 to 2,800 square feet, so it can heat a large home. It has double glass doors in a cast iron frame and a big firebox that takes logs up to 25 inches long. It is a zero clearance fireplace, which means your builder frames it into a wall during construction or a renovation. A chimney runs up from it, so you do not need a masonry fireplace.
Load it up and turn the air down, and it burns up to 11 hours. At full burn it puts out up to 95,000 BTU. The blower, a quiet fan that pushes the heat out into the room, comes with it. It burns dry, seasoned firewood. Once the fire is going you close the main air control by hand, and the fireplace closes the rest on its own when it senses the right temperature. It meets the current EPA clean air rules. The faceplate is the finished frame around the opening. The black crown style one and the molded brick panels that line the firebox are part of the price, and the page asks you to confirm them. NightFlame glass is a dark glass that hides the inside of the firebox when the fire is out and turns clear when it burns. It is optional on the page. You can add a forced air kit that ducts some of the heat to another room or a warm air grille, and more on the page. Prefer an arched frame? See the Valcourt Arched Waterloo wood fireplace. The Valcourt Waterloo ships free from My Cozy Outdoors with No Sales Tax (except WY) and the full manufacturer warranty.
FAQ
What is included in the price?
The description notes the price includes the black crown-style faceplate and the moulded refractory brick panels, both required components, which is why both selectors show them at no charge. Louvers are not offered on this crown version; the arched FP15A listing carries the louver choice instead.
How long does it burn?
Up to 11 hours on a single load per the description and Specifications tab, from a 4.28 cubic foot firebox that takes 25 inch logs, with 95,000 BTU per hour maximum and 1,000 to 2,800 square feet of heating area. It is the largest model in Valcourt’s high-efficiency series.
How does the patented air control help?
After lighting, you close the primary damper by hand; the system then closes the second primary damper and trims secondary air automatically when it detects optimum temperature, and the auxiliary control sets the burn rate from there. That is what delivers 64 percent HHV efficiency at 1.6 grams per hour.
What venting does it need?
An 8 inch chimney of at least 15 feet, CAN/ULC S604 UL 103 or S629 UL 103 HT, selected from the approved brands listed on the page. The Options selector adds a 5 inch air intake termination, fresh air register and insulated flex pipe, and 6 inch flex for the forced air kit.
What are the clearances and weight?
84 inches to the ceiling from the platform, 8 inches to a side mantle and 24 inches to a side wall; no shelf clearance applies. Shipping weight is 545 pounds for a 50-3/4 by 43-3/8 by 31-5/8 inch unit. Not approved for mobile homes, and the label on the appliance governs.
Blower and warranty?
A 176 CFM blower is included and the warranty is limited lifetime. Double cast-iron framed glass doors with a 33 by 12-3/4 inch opening and air wash complete the package; NightFlame glass is optional. Compare with our other wood burning indoor fireplaces.
