Fire Magic Aurora Built In Pizza Oven: pizza, bread, and roasts in your outdoor kitchen

The Fire Magic Aurora Built In Pizza Oven is a built in gas pizza oven for the outdoor kitchen. Built in means it slides into a cutout in an outdoor kitchen island, so it has no legs of its own. It uses the same cutout as the 30 inch Aurora grill, so it drops into a standard island slot. It handles pizza night, bread, roasts, and cookies. Fire Magic builds it in the USA from 304 stainless steel, the grade that holds up best outdoors. Burners rated at 36,000 BTUs heat it from 150 up to 750 degrees, and a thermostat dial holds the heat you set.

The pizzas bake on an 18 by 18 inch cordierite stone, a ceramic that takes high heat without cracking, and a baking rack and a wooden peel come in the box. Give the stone a full 25 minutes to heat, and the crust comes out crisp. The door has a glass window and a light inside, so you can watch the pizza without opening it. It needs an outlet in the island, or the battery pack that is optional on the page. On the page you pick natural gas or propane, and it comes built for that gas. A pizza accessory kit is optional on the page. Want a touch screen and a meat probe? See the Fire Magic Echelon Black Glass Pizza Oven. The Fire Magic Aurora Built In Pizza Oven ships free from My Cozy Outdoors with No Sales Tax (except WY) and the full manufacturer warranty.

FAQ

How hot does the pizza oven get, and how long does it take to preheat?

The thermostat runs from 150 to 750 degrees F, driven by 36,000 BTUs of burners. The manual says to allow a minimum of 25 minutes of preheating: the oven may hit the set temperature sooner and the red LED will switch off, but the cordierite stone needs the full 25 minutes to come up to heat for a crisp crust.

Can it do more than pizza?

Yes. The thermostatic control lets you bake, roast and warm at low settings, and the oven comes with a baking rack as well as the 18 by 18 by 3/4 inch cordierite stone. The manual notes the stone also works for bread, cookies, pies and other baked goods, and an interior light plus the ceramic glass door window let you watch without opening the door.

Does the oven need electricity?

Yes. The Specifications tab lists a 110 to 120 volt supply, and the manual calls for a weatherproof 120 volt, 15 amp GFCI outlet. Power runs the IPI ignition with flame rectification, the thermostat and the interior light. If power is not available at the island, the Battery Pack option on this page’s Optional Accessories selector powers the ignition instead.

What cutout does the Aurora pizza oven need?

The opening is 31 1/4 inches wide, 23 1/2 inches deep and 11 1/2 inches high, the same cutout as the E660i and A660i grills, so it drops into an island designed for a 30-inch Fire Magic grill. The countertop must be non-combustible, a combustible enclosure needs the insulating liner, and the manual asks for 18 inches of clearance from combustibles.

What comes with the oven?

The 18 inch cordierite pizza stone, the baking rack and a wooden pizza peel are included, and the manual also lists an analog oven thermometer for checking the set temperature against the actual reading. The Pizza Accessory Kit and the Battery Pack are add-ons you can choose on the Optional Accessories selector above the cart button.

Is it made for natural gas or propane?

Both. Use the Gas Type selector on this page: natural gas is model 4600 and propane is 4600P. Order the correct fuel; the manual lists conversion kits through the dealer, but a factory-matched oven is simpler. Propane cylinders inside an island fall under the manual’s ventilation rules. See other built-in pizza ovens here.

How do I use the oven door and window?

The door opens flat and has a ceramic glass viewing window, so you can watch the crust with the door shut. The manual says to open and close the door only by its handle, to keep door openings brief so the temperature holds, and not to set items on the open door. Slide pizzas in and out with the included peel dusted with cornmeal or semolina.
