Harvia Legend 150: a stone stacked wood stove for small saunas from 212 to 459 cubic feet
The Harvia Legend 150 is a wood-burning sauna stove with an open black steel frame that holds 264 pounds of stones, giving you soft, moist heat from the rocks rather than directly from hot metal. Rated at 16 kW, it heats saunas from 212 to 459 cubic feet and fits under a ceiling as low as 69 inches. It is 21 inches wide, 28 inches deep, and 30 inches tall, and weighs 135 pounds empty. A glass door with a cast iron frame lets you watch the fire.
Air is split inside the firebox to help the wood burn cleaner and more completely. The stove, door, ash box, and manual are included. Sauna stones are sold separately, so add the 6 boxes it needs on the page. A chimney is not included, so pick the chimney kit, any extensions, and the adapter to 6 inch US pipe on the page. A protective sheath, smoke pipe cover, floor plate, pipe-mounted water tank, and wood safety rail are optional. Want to stoke it from outside the sauna? See the Harvia Legend 150 SL stove. The Harvia Legend 150 ships free from My Cozy Outdoors with No Sales Tax (except WY) and the full manufacturer warranty.
FAQ
How does a wood-burning sauna stove heat the sauna?
A wood fire in the stove’s fire chamber heats a large mass of sauna stones, and those stones radiate heat into the room for a comfortably moist sauna bath. The Legend 150’s structure separates the combustion air and directs part of it to the upper fire chamber, giving a cleaner, more efficient burn, while the cast-iron glass door lets the warm glow of the fire complement the sauna atmosphere.
Can the Legend 150 be fired from another room?
Yes. The Legend 150 is built so you can heat the sauna from another room or even from outside the building, and it can heat two rooms. That makes it a good fit if you want to load and tend the fire without stepping into the hot room. The adjustable legs also make the stove easy to place during installation.
What size sauna room is this stove rated for?
It’s a 16kW stove rated for sauna rooms from 212 to 459 cubic feet, with a minimum room height of 69 inches (1750mm). If your room falls near the edges of that range, check the installation manual linked in the Manual tab before buying, and confirm the clearances for your specific layout there as well.
How many sauna stones does it need, and are they included?
This stove requires a minimum of 264 lbs of sauna stones, which is six boxes — select them with the Required Stones option on this page so they ship with your order. Because each natural stone is unique in shape and size, Harvia recommends adding one extra box so you can choose the best stones for fit, form, and function (additional freight charges apply).
Is a chimney included, or do I need one?
A chimney is not in the box — the stove ships with the stove body, stove door, ash box, and manual. The flue connects at the back or top, and you can add a chimney and assembly kit, chimney extensions, smoke pipes, and a 4.5-inch-to-6-inch pipe adapter to your order on this page. Route and terminate the chimney per the installation manual and your local codes.
What size firewood should I use?
The fire chamber takes firewood up to 15 inches long with a diameter of roughly 3 to 5.9 inches (8-15cm). For how to load and manage the fire, follow the installation and operation manual included with the stove — a copy is also linked in the Manual tab on this page.
What's included and what warranty do I get?
The package includes the sauna stove, stove door, ash box, and the installation and operation manual, and it’s covered by a 2-year warranty for consumer use. Like the rest of Harvia’s Legend series, this stove is designed, engineered, and made in Finland, with a modern black steel grate structure built for a longer lifespan.
