MCO Pools Fiji Fiberglass Pool: a long swim with a wide tanning ledge
The MCO Pools Fiji Fiberglass Pool is built for a long, straight swim, with a wide tanning ledge and side to side steps at the entry end. It measures 14 by 35 feet and runs from 3 feet 6 inches to 6 feet deep. The tanning ledge is a shallow shelf for lounging before you head into deeper water. This is an inground pool shell, so yard access matters as much as room for the pool. Your builder will need a clear swing path for the crane to set it.
The price is for the shell only; your pool builder adds the pump, filter, heater, coping, and decking. Choose Caribbean Blue, Cancun White, or Eclipse Gray at no extra charge. You can also add a separate Santorini Spa or Mykonos spa shell on this page, and it rides along in the same delivery. Want the same size with a hot tub molded in? FAQ
How big can a fiberglass pool be?
Shells are limited to what ships in one piece on a flatbed, and the Fiji is at the top of the MCO range at 14 by 35 ft with a 3 ft 6 in to 6 ft depth. Its length is used well: continuous side-to-side steps and an expansive tanning ledge at the entry end, then a long straight run to the deep end. Compare it with the rest of our fiberglass pools.
Do fiberglass pools fade?
The Fiji’s laminate places a clear UV protection coat over the diamond flake gelcoat to resist discoloration, with a vinylester layer beneath to resist osmosis. Fading, staining and discoloration are excluded from the warranty, which covers the surface against osmotic blistering only, so the tanning ledge and shallow areas that see the most sun rely on balanced water chemistry to keep their color.
How long does a fiberglass pool take to install?
Delivery of the shell is guaranteed within 4 to 5 weeks, and because the Fiji arrives finished the builder sets it by crane rather than building it on site. Overall timing depends on your builder’s excavation, plumbing, backfill and decking work, and a 35 ft shell needs a clear swing path from the truck, so plan the site access and crane with them early.
How do you clean a fiberglass pool?
Brush the surface and keep the water balanced: the linked service manual recommends testing two to three times a week, correcting alkalinity, pH and chlorine in that order, dosing acid a little at a time, and keeping the water level at the skimmer. The brochure notes fiberglass needs about 30 percent less maintenance and chlorine than concrete, and the Fiji’s gelcoat is designed to be low maintenance.
Do fiberglass pools have liners?
No. The Fiji’s swimming surface is a colored gelcoat with diamond flake finish, backed by a UV coat, a vinylester osmosis barrier, chopped fiberglass and resin, woven fiberglass with a Nidacore honeycomb core, and a resin base. There is nothing to stretch, patch or replace, and the steps and tanning ledge are part of the same solid laminate.
Can a fiberglass pool be above ground?
The Fiji is sold as an inground shell and the warranty requires it to be installed to the ANSI/APSP-5 residential inground standard, local codes and the manufacturer’s procedures, with backfill and groundwater controlled around it. A raised or partly exposed installation is outside what the warranty describes, so ask us and your builder before planning one.
