Narvi Luosto VS: a round wood burning sauna stove with a built in hot water tank
The Narvi Luosto VS is a round, floor standing wood burning sauna stove with a hot water tank built around it. It puts out 16 kW and heats saunas from 283 to 706 cubic feet. The tank holds about 8 gallons, and the fire warms it while the sauna heats. That gives you hot water at the faucet for washing or for the stones. The round shape tucks into a corner and takes up little floor space. The body is enameled steel painted black. A glass door in a cast iron frame lets you watch the fire. Adjustable feet help you level it on an uneven floor. Narvi designs and builds it in Finland.
Wood burning means no wiring: you build a fire in the firebox and the stones on top hold the heat. Ladle water on the stones for steam. It burns logs up to 13 inches long. It comes with the stove, the tank and faucet, and the manual. Sauna stones are sold separately, so add the two boxes it needs on the page. A chimney is not included, so pick the flue parts and the adapter to 6 inch US pipe on the page. Because the tank wraps the stove, the flue leaves from the top only. If the stove sits near a wood wall, add Narvi’s protective wall shield or the floor base on the page. Don’t need the tank? See the Narvi Luosto without the water tank. The Narvi Luosto VS ships free from My Cozy Outdoors with No Sales Tax (except WY) and the full manufacturer warranty.
FAQ
What does the water tank add?
A 30 liter stainless steel tank with a faucet wraps the stove so you always have hot water for washing or for throwing on the stones, which is why the VS is 23.6 inches in diameter against 19.7 for the plain Luosto. The manual says to fill the tank with clean water before every heating and to empty it whenever freezing is possible.
How much sauna does it heat?
The same 16 kW rating and 283 to 706 cubic foot range as the standard model, with 77 pounds of 4 to 6 inch stones. It heats quickly on a small load of dry logs up to 13 inches long, and the glass door with its cast-iron frame lets you keep an eye on the fire. Stones ship separately via the Required Stones selector.
Where does the flue connect?
The linked manual is specific: the Luosto VS connects to the chimney from the top only, because the water tank casing wraps the stove, and the Specifications tab lists the top connection alone. Join the 120 mm outlet to North American pipe with the 4.5 inch Euro to 6 inch USA pipe adapter from the Chimney selector, and use a CE-marked modular chimney as the manual requires.
What clearances does the tank version need?
An 80 inch ceiling, 57.1 inches front to back and 47.2 inches side to side, slightly more than the plain stove because of its larger diameter. The Safety selector offers Narvi’s protective wall shield and installation base, which the manual allows for reducing rear and side distances to combustible walls.
Can I use the water from the tank on the stones?
Yes, the manual says to fill the tank with clean water only; it warns the water gets very hot, so use the faucet with care. Do not throw chlorinated water on the stones; the warranty excludes damage from it. A ladle of water on hot stones makes the steam; the tank simply keeps a supply warm.
How much does it weigh and what is the warranty?
119 pounds bare and 196 pounds with its stones in place, made in Finland with a 2-year limited warranty per the Includes tab and manual. The listing shown is CE. It ships within the estimated 7 to 10 business days noted on the page. Compare with the other wood burning sauna stoves that offer tanks.
