Harvia Linear 22 GreenFlame: a cleaner burning wood stove for saunas from 317 to 635 cubic feet

The Harvia Linear 22 GreenFlame is a matte black, wood burning sauna stove made in Finland, rated at 15.7 kW for rooms from 317 to 635 cubic feet. Its rectangular steel body is 30 inches tall and under 18 inches wide. It weighs 133 pounds and has adjustable legs for an uneven floor. The GreenFlame firebox sets it apart from the standard Linear 22. It burns wood more completely, producing about 20 percent fewer smoke particles and 70 percent less carbon monoxide. The wide glass door gives you a bigger view of the flames.

You get the stove, the glass door, a fastening kit, and the manual. Sauna stones are sold separately, so add the 2 boxes it needs on the page. A chimney is not included, so pick the chimney kit, any extensions, and the adapter to 6 inch US pipe on the page. A protective sheath, a floor plate, a pipe mounted water tank, and a bucket and ladle set are optional. Want hot water for washing too? The Harvia Linear 22 GreenFlame ES adds a built in water tank. The Harvia Linear 22 GreenFlame ships free from My Cozy Outdoors with No Sales Tax (except WY) and the full manufacturer warranty.

FAQ

What is GreenFlame technology?

GreenFlame is Harvia’s low-emission combustion technology. The fully updated GreenFlame fire chamber is designed for clean combustion: it reduces the particulate emissions from wood burning by 20% and carbon monoxide emissions by 70%, while ensuring a controlled burn, reliable operation, and a long life for the stove. It’s part of Harvia’s long-term goal of cutting the particulate emissions of its wood-burning stoves by half — see the full GreenFlame series.

Does the cleaner-burning design mean less heat?

No. The stones of this stove heat the entire sauna quickly and offer enough heat even for the most demanding sauna bathers. The GreenFlame fire chamber reduces particulate and carbon monoxide emissions — it doesn’t reduce output. Rated at 15.7kW, the stove is made for medium-sized saunas and pairs its clean burn with a large glass door that highlights the fire beautifully.

What size sauna room does this stove suit?

It’s rated for sauna rooms from 317 to 635 cubic feet, which covers most medium-sized saunas. The spec table on this page doesn’t list a minimum ceiling height, so check the installation and operating instructions linked in the Manual tab for room height and clearance requirements before finalizing your build.

How many stones does it take, and what size?

The stove requires a minimum of 88 lbs of sauna stones — two boxes — in the 10-15 cm size listed in the specifications. Select the Required Stones option with your order on this page so they ship together. Harvia also recommends an extra box, since natural stones vary in shape and size and a spare box lets you pick the best stones for fit (additional freight charges apply).

Is a chimney included?

No — the package includes the heater, glass door, fastening kit, and the installation and operating instructions. Chimney and assembly kits, chimney extensions, smoke pipes, and a 4.5-inch-Euro-to-6-inch-USA pipe adapter can all be added to your order on this page. Plan the flue route, connection, and clearances according to the installation manual and your local codes.

Is the Linear 22 difficult to install?

It’s a floor-standing stove with a vertical installation, and the adjustable frame legs facilitate installation and ensure stability. A fastening kit is included, and Linear protective walls are part of the design; a protective sheath and protective bedding are also available as add-ons on this page. For clearances and the chimney connection, follow the manual and your local codes.

How long will a wood-burning stove like this last?

This stove is built with a durable steel structure and replaceable internals to ensure a long service life, and the GreenFlame fire chamber’s controlled burn is designed to extend the stove’s life as well. It’s designed, engineered, and made in Finland, carries a 2-year warranty for consumer use, and its matte black color and elegant design keep a modern look in the sauna.
