Superior Crescent Hill: vent-free gas logs that heat the room with two rows of flame
The Superior Crescent Hill is a vent-free gas log set that fits in your existing fireplace. Vent-free means you can run it with the damper closed, so nearly all the heat stays in the room instead of going up the chimney. It keeps heating when the power is out because the burner needs no electricity. The concrete logs are molded from real wood, with bark and split ends. Two rows of yellow flames dance between them. The logs come in lengths of 18 or 24 inches. It puts out up to 36,000 BTU. Pick the size on the page.
The burner is not included. On the page you pick the log size, the fuel, and the burner. Order it for natural gas or propane. The manual burner has a knob that turns the flame up and down. The millivolt burner is remote ready, so you can add an on and off remote, a thermostat remote, or a wall switch. Check your local code first, since some areas restrict vent-free heaters. Want sharper bark detail? See the Superior Crescent Hill HD vent-free gas log set. The Superior Crescent Hill ships free from My Cozy Outdoors with No Sales Tax (except WY) and the full manufacturer warranty.
FAQ
What is included with the Crescent Hill logs?
The concrete log set in 18 or 24 in; the Double-Flame burner is a required choice on the Burner selector (Manual or Millivolt) after you pick the size and fuel. Manual has a variable high-low flame knob; Millivolt is remote-ready. The set produces two rows of dancing yellow flames and is heater rated at 99 percent efficiency.
What fireplace size does it need?
A minimum width of 24 in for the 18 in set or 28 in for the 24 in set, 17 in of height and 13-1/2 in of depth per the Specifications tab. Both sizes are rated 36,000 down to 19,000 BTU, so the room, not the fireplace, is usually the limiting factor; the burner manual’s ventilation-air check sets the input the space can support.
Vent-free or vented?
Either. Run vent-free with the damper closed and none of the heat goes up the chimney, or run it vented in a working fireplace with the Damper Clamp (required if vented) from the Accessories row holding the damper open. Local codes decide whether vent-free use is permitted in your area. See more ventless gas logs.
What controls can I add?
For the millivolt burner, the Accessories row lists an on/off remote with wall plate, a thermostatic on/off remote, a touch screen remote, a wall-mount thermostat and an on/off wall switch, plus volcanic stone, a floor media kit, a black fireplace hood and a gas appliance installation kit. The manual burner is controlled at its knob.
Natural gas or propane?
Both. The Fuel Type selector picks natural gas or propane and the Burner row then shows the matching Manual or Millivolt version at the same price, so the set arrives ready for your fuel with no conversion needed. Propane models are the P suffix in the Specifications tab SKU list; tell your installer which one you ordered so the gas supply and regulator match.
Does it work when the power is out?
Yes. The standing pilot on both the manual and millivolt burners needs no household electricity, so the logs light and heat during an outage; the description calls that out as a key reason to choose vent-free heating logs. Remotes run on batteries.
