FAQ

What metals can the Maya Linear come in?

Three: hand-hammered copper that will patina into deep bronze tones, stainless steel for a bright, maintenance-free ribbon of flame, and powder-coated steel when you want a specific color. Same linear trough underneath; SKUs run OPT-4820MCFO through OPT-7220MPCFO depending on metal and size.

What sizes and depths are offered?

More than the concrete version: 48, 60, and 72-inch lengths in both 20-inch and 30-inch depths. The 30-inch-deep Maya Linear reads as a substantial fire table surface, while the 20-inch stays sleek for wall caps and ledges. All are built to order for Liquid Propane or Natural Gas.

What comes with the metal Maya Linear?

Fire pan and plate, burner, nipple, mounting bracket, fuel orifice, whistle-free hose, and lava rock, with your choice of Match Lit or Low Voltage Electronic Ignition (CSA Certified). Everything after the gas stub is included, which keeps installation predictable for this fire bowl.

Which media suits a long metal trough?

Fire glass is the runaway favorite on the metal Maya Linear: a long bed of reflective glass doubles the ribbon-of-flame effect, especially over stainless. Lava rock is included and gives a more natural read over copper. Both are gas-rated; fill evenly along the full burner length.

Can a linear unit this size sit on a deck?

The metal builds are lighter than concrete, which helps, and gas means no embers. You still need a non-combustible base, framing checked for the load, and spec sheet clearances, particularly behind the long sides of the Maya Linear. Have a licensed installer confirm the layout before committing.

Can you cook across the linear flame?

Toasting only. The long burner is superb for a row of marshmallow skewers at a party, genuinely better than a round bowl for crowds, but it is not a grill, and drippings foul the media. Keep actual cooking on cooking equipment and let the Maya Linear handle atmosphere and dessert.

How do the three finishes age outdoors?

Copper evolves: brightness now, patina later, with weather setting the pace. Stainless essentially refuses to age; occasional washing keeps it mirror-fresh. Powder coat holds its color for years and asks only for gentle cleaning. Pick based on whether you want the Maya Linear to change with time or stay fixed.

Fire Bowls Features

The Outdoor Plus — American Made Fire & Water Features

Fire Bowls

Hand-crafted gas fire bowls that turn pool walls, pilasters and patios into the warmest place in the backyard.

A fire bowl is a sealed gas fire feature — a sculptural bowl with a built-in burner that runs on natural gas or liquid propane. No firewood, no embers, no smoke chasing your guests around the patio: turn the key and you have instant, controllable flame. Every bowl in this collection is hand-made in the USA by The Outdoor Plus and arrives with the complete burner system already in the bowl.

Straight from the factory

What’s Included in Your Bowl

Every fire bowl ships as a complete kit — bowl, burner, fire pan, lava rock and plumbing. The only choice you need to make is how you want to light it.

Match Lit / Manual Ignition

The classic setup: open the key valve and light the burner by hand. Nothing electric to wire or maintain — the simplest and most affordable way to run a fire bowl.

  • Lava rock media & stainless burner
  • Fire pan with coupling
  • Gas orifice (Natural Gas or Liquid Propane)
  • Whistle-free flex hose
  • Ventilating mounting plate

Low Voltage / Electronic Ignition

Flip a switch — or wire it into your pool controls — and the pilot igniter lights the bowl for you. Every electronic ignition system runs on a safe low-voltage transformer.

  • Everything in the match lit kit, plus:
  • Pilot igniter for push-button starts
  • SWEIS electronic ignition valve
  • Low-voltage transformer

Good to Know

Natural Gas

NG bowls come with a brass orifice mounted directly under the burner. Plan the gas run so the key valve sits within arm’s reach of the bowl.

Liquid Propane

LP bowls use a brass air-mixer orifice that blends air into the propane for a cleaner-burning flame — no soot staining the bowl or the deck around it.

Lava Rock, Not Glass, for LP

Skip fire glass on propane bowls. Propane is heavier than air and can pool under dense glass media — lava rock lets it breathe. On natural gas, glass is fair game.

Mounting & Ventilation

Bowls ship with a ventilating mounting bracket that anchors the bowl and lets the enclosure breathe. Install it properly — it’s required to keep the warranty valid.

Where fire bowls shine

Designed for the Backyard

Fire bowls belong wherever you want light, warmth and drama — on pool walls and pilasters, flanking steps and spas, or standing alone on a patio pedestal or garden column.

One bowl makes a focal point; a matched pair frames a view; a row down the pool wall turns the whole backyard into a resort. Because every bowl runs on your gas line, the flame is instant, adjustable and clean — no wood to haul, no embers, no smoke.

Fill it your way: lava rock is included, or dress natural gas bowls with fire glass in dozens of colors for a jewel-like glow.

Four ways to build a bowl

Materials & Finishes

Glass-fiber reinforced concrete — the strength of cast concrete at a fraction of the weight, highly resistant to weathering, erosion and heat. Offered in smooth, rustic and metallic finishes from Ash to Vanilla.

Powder Coated Steel

Steel bowls sealed in tough powder-coat finishes engineered for harsh outdoor environments — from Matte Black and Java to White, Copper Vein and Sapphire Blue.

Hammered Copper

Hand-hammered copper with a timeless reddish-brown patina. Long-lived, artisanal, an excellent heat conductor — and it only looks better as it ages.
