Maya fire and water bowl: square copper, flame and front spill

The Outdoor Plus Maya fire and water bowl is square, tapered copper, hand hammered in the USA, with central flames over lava rock and one wide front scupper spilling a sheet of water into the pool. Choose 24, 30, or 36 inches. Copper weathers toward a blue-green patina.

Order it for natural gas or propane. Light it with a match, or add electronic ignition and start it with a button. The pan, burner, copper scupper, hose, and lava rock are included; a key valve, propane tank pedestal, canvas cover, bullet burner upgrade, fire glass, and burner ornaments are optional. Prefer a finish that stays bright? Try the Maya stainless steel bowl. The Maya fire and water bowl ships free from My Cozy Outdoors with No Sales Tax (except WY) and the full manufacturer warranty.

FAQ

Why pair hammered copper with the Maya’s square shape?

Contrast – the Maya’s crisp squared geometry is modern, while hand-hammered copper is warm and artisanal, and the dimpled surface multiplies firelight after dark. Over water the effect doubles again in reflection, which is exactly what this bowl was drawn for.

Which sizes does the hammered copper Maya offer?

Three: 24-inch (OPT-24SCFW), 30-inch (OPT-30SCFW), and 36-inch (OPT-36SCFW). All are built to order for liquid propane or natural gas with match lit or CSA-certified low voltage electronic ignition, and key valve installation is optional.

What do I get in the crate?

The copper Maya arrives with fire pan and plate, burner, nipple, mounting bracket, orifice for your chosen fuel, whistle-free hose, copper scupper with a 3/4-inch inlet, and lava rock. Site plumbing – the gas run and pressurized water feed – is yours to arrange.

Will pool chemicals hurt the copper?

No – copper does not rust, it evolves. Chlorinated splash simply speeds the natural patina, carrying this Maya from bright metal toward deep bronze like every copper fire pit before it. If you prefer the bright stage, rinse, clean, and wax on a schedule.

Can flame and spill run simultaneously?

Yes – that is the Maya’s default party trick. Gas and water arrive on separate lines with separate controls, so the scupper pours while the burner flames, or either performs solo. Pool automation can run both from one remote if you choose electronic ignition.

How do I light the copper Maya?

Match lit models light with a long wand at the burner after opening the key valve; electronic models spark themselves from a switch. For bowls mounted mid-wall across the water – a common copper Maya placement – electronic ignition saves you a walk around the pool every evening.

Is this an installer-required product?

Effectively yes. Between anchoring on the bond beam, the 3/4-inch water feed, and a gas line that must be professionally connected and leak-tested, the copper Maya is a pool-contractor line item. Plan it into the build or remodel rather than as an afterthought.

Fire and Water Bowl Features

The Outdoor Plus · American-made fire & water features

Fire and water, in one sculptural bowl

A fire & water bowl is two features in a single piece: a gas flame dancing above the rim, and a built-in scupper pouring a smooth ribbon of water into the pool below. By day it works as an elegant fountain; after dark the flame lights up the falling water and reflects across the whole pool.

Everything arrives ready to install

Exploded diagram of a match lit fire and water bowl: lava, burner, fire pan, coupling, gas orifice, whistle free hose, ventilating mounting plate, scupper and water line

Match lit

The simplest system — open the gas and light the burner by hand. No electricity, nothing to wire. Burner, fire pan, lava rock, gas fittings and mounting hardware are all in the box.

Exploded diagram of a low voltage electronic ignition fire and water bowl with pilot igniter, SWEIS valve and low voltage transformer

Low-voltage electronic ignition

Start the flame from a switch, timer or home automation — a 12V system adds a pilot igniter and SWEIS valve, powered by the included low-voltage transformer.

Scupper & water line

Your pool’s circulation pump feeds the scupper for a clean, glassy arc of water back into the pool.

Whistle-free hose

A properly sized gas connector that eliminates humming — all you hear is fire and falling water.

Ventilating mounting plate

Anchors the bowl and ventilates the gas connection; proper installation keeps the warranty valid.

Gas orifice — NG or LP

NG bowls use a brass orifice under the burner; LP bowls use an air-mixer orifice for a clean, soot-free flame.

Ideas for your pool

Choose how the water falls

The scupper shapes the water as much as the bowl shapes the fire — and most bowls come in several spill styles: classic scupper, gravity spill, wide spill, twin & 4-way, 360° and wave. One bowl makes a focal point; a row transforms the backyard.

Finishes & good to know

Built to live outside

GFRC concrete

Glass-fiber reinforced — strong, lightweight, weather-resistant. 18 colors.

Wood grain concrete

Durable GFRC cast with a realistic wood-grain texture.

Hammered copper

Artisanal, long-lived, and nearly maintenance-free.

Stainless steel

Rust- and corrosion-resistant — ideal for coastal settings.

Powder coated metal

Tough finish for harsh environments — two dozen colors.

Propane? Use lava rock

Fire glass isn’t recommended with LP — propane is heavier than air and can pool under dense glass media.

Key valve placement

Key valves mount within arm’s reach of the burner — or add OPT-KVI for a factory-installed valve on the bowl.

Professional installation

Bowls tie into gas and pool plumbing; the mounting bracket must be properly installed for the warranty to apply.

Pick your fuel up front

Every bowl comes for natural gas or propane, with the correct orifice for the fuel you choose.
