Roman Fire Torch: a flared basket-weave head with a plain band, 14 inches tall
The Outdoor Plus Roman Fire Torch is a hand-crafted stainless steel head with a flared cone shape, crossed-slat lattice, and plain mid-height band. Its flame glows through the weave like an old brazier. Heat- and weather-resistant, it stands 14 inches tall, 8 inches across, atop a post by an entry, pool, or seating wall.
Pick the Original base, which has a built-in needle valve for setting the flame height and bolts to any 2.5 inch post, or the TOP-Lite base that threads onto a half-inch gas pipe. Order it for natural gas or propane. Prefer a classic urn shape? See the Urn fire torch. The Roman fire torch ships free from My Cozy Outdoors with No Sales Tax (except WY) and the full manufacturer warranty.

FAQ
What inspired the Roman Fire Torch?
The braziers of antiquity – an 8-inch stainless steel vessel that holds its flame like a classical urn of fire atop a column. The Roman is the torch for formal landscapes: symmetric plantings, colonnades, balustraded terraces, anywhere order and ceremony set the tone.
What are the Roman torch’s specs?
Diameter 8 inches, height 14 inches, output to 20,000 BTU, each head individually hand crafted from high-grade stainless steel. SKUs: OPT-TT7M for the match-lit Original with built-in needle valve, OPT-TCH7SS for the TOP-Lite electronic-ignition version.
Can Roman torches frame a fire-and-water scene?
Classically well – set a Roman pair on columns behind sheeting water bowls and you have the villa fountain-court effect: still water below, ceremonial flame above. It is the oldest landscape trick there is, and the Roman was practically drawn for it.
How is the Roman torch ignited?
By match or long lighter on the Original OPT-TT7M – open the valve, touch the burner, then set the flame on the needle valve. For lighter-free starts, the TOP-Lite OPT-TCH7SS build is designed for electronic ignition from a switch.
What post suits the Roman torch?
Anything with gravitas – masonry columns and substantial steel posts flatter the Roman’s 8-inch urn form. Mechanically it needs only the standard 2 1/2-inch post mount with hex bolts and a 3/8-inch flared gas inlet, installed by a licensed pro.
How thirsty is the Roman torch?
At its 20,000 BTU ceiling the Roman burns about a pound of propane an hour – call it 20 hours per standard tank – and meaningfully less at dinner-party settings. Natural gas builds draw from the house line, where an evening costs pocket change.
Does the Roman need winter storage?
No – its stainless steel construction is made to stand outside through every season, snow included. Simply shut off the gas supply when the Roman will sit idle for long stretches, and relight in spring after a quick check that the burner is clear.
