The Golden Designs Carinthia is a three person outdoor hybrid sauna. Hybrid means it has both a traditional stove and infrared heaters, so you can choose a hot steamy sauna or a gentler warm-up. The cabin is made of Canadian hemlock with a clear stain that keeps the rain out. It has a bronze tinted glass door, a shingled roof, and two rows of benches inside. It takes up about 84 by 74 inches in your yard.
Turn the switch to the Harvia 8 kW stove and the room reaches 170 to 185 degrees. Turn it to infrared and eight heaters warm you at a lower temperature. Only one runs at a time. Inside you get color lighting, a control panel with FM radio and Bluetooth, speakers, and a sandglass timer, bucket, and scoop. It has two separate heat sources in one room: a Harvia 8 kW traditional stove with built-in controls and eight full spectrum emitters (two carbon PureTech near-zero-EMF panels plus six near-infrared elements). The owner’s manual explains that a main power switch selects either the stove or the infrared heaters; they never run at the same time. Switch it to 0 and neither has power.
The page lists a 240 V / 40 A service that powers both the stove and the full spectrum heaters. The manual requires a certified licensed electrician to hardwire it using copper wire rated for 90 C (no aluminum), with breaker and wire sizes per your local code. Extension cords and receptacle adapters are not allowed.
Golden Designs recommends the full spectrum infrared mode when the outside temperature is 45 F or warmer; the traditional stove works at any exterior temperature. Infrared sessions run cooler, with 118-132 F listed as the ideal range and a 140 F ceiling, while the stove side is happiest at 170-185 F and tops out around 190 F.
Yes. It is built from Canadian hemlock with a waterproof clear stain on the exterior and asphalt-shingled outer roof panels, and the manual says outdoor models are designed to sit in rain and sun. Expect the wood to change color over time and a little water seepage that dries during use; a rain cover is recommended when it sits idle.
The assembled sauna weighs 715 lbs (925 lbs shipping) and the manual says the loaded weight can exceed 1,000 lbs, so it needs a level surface that can carry that: a concrete slab, pavers, gravel, cinder blocks or a solid wood deck. If it sits on bare ground, rest the support cradles on blocks so it does not settle.
It ships as pre-built panels on a pallet, curbside by freight. The owner’s manual calls for three adults and only a battery or hand-held Phillips screwdriver; the panels, benches, roof sections and door go together with the provided screws. The one part you cannot do yourself is the stove wiring, which must be handled by a licensed electrician.
The sandglass, bucket and scoop are included, along with the chromotherapy lighting, backrest accent light, LED control panel with FM radio and Bluetooth, and built-in speakers. Buyer may cancel and return the goods to Manufacturer, subject to the terms and conditions oft his policy. Golden Designs reserves the right to refuse to refund any deposit or payment, or cancel any payment due, and any owing until such time as Manufacture a) is in receipt of the goods b) has inspected the goods and c) in the Manufactures discretion, has found the goods to be free of damage. All refunds will be provided within 5 business days once the product has been returned to the warehouse and inspected for damage
All returned goods must be in their original packaging. Seller may refuse to refund all or any portion of any payment, or cancel payment due and owing if the Buyer fails to fully comply with or violates the terms and conditions of this policy.
All cancelled orders and/or returned goods shall be subject to the following: a) storage fees and costs associated with routing the goods; b) handling and restocking fee of 20% of the total purchase for each sauna; c) all shipping costs to and from the Manufacture, and; d) a return merchandise authorization (RMA)number provided by Norse Steam. I got the Norse Steam SaunaLife wood-fired hot tub, the S4N model, and its been seriously great. It heats up quicker than I expected, usually around an hour and a half, and once its hot, it stays that way for a good long while. The wood-fired system is simple to use, and honestly kind of fun.
The tub itself feels solid and well put together. The thermo-spruce exterior looks beautiful in person, and the fiberglass interior is smooth, deep, and easy to clean. Its the kind of setup that just works without a bunch of fuss, which I really appreciate.
