Lexington Hearth Cabin Pine: a non combustible mantel with an old cabin log look

The Lexington Hearth Cabin Pine is a non combustible fireplace mantel that looks like an old cabin log. It is molded from a real timber and cast in Lexington Hearth’s own non combustible mix, then painted by hand. The mold captures splits, old nail holes, knots, and saw marks. Its face goes from squared to a rounded log edge, a good fit for a cabin style room. The shelf is about 6 inches deep, and the face is about 6 inches tall.

It is non combustible, which means the material itself will not burn, so it can usually sit closer to the fireplace than a wood mantel. Your fireplace manual and local code set the exact distance above the firebox. It comes with a steel mounting bracket, the screws, and a touch up kit for the screw holes. The bracket screws into the wall studs, the mantel slides over it, and it takes two people to hang. On the page you pick the length, 60 or 72 inches, and then one of five hand painted colors. What is the Cabin Pine mantel modeled from?

A 6 in. by 6 in. timber with a lot of history in it. The mold reproduces multi-level splits, a surface that transitions from squared to a rounded pole wane, old fastener damage, insect marks, deep checking, knots, and saw marks, and each casting is then hand-painted. The result is a cabin-log look in Lexington Hearth’s Burncrete, certified non-combustible to ASTM E136.

Which lengths and weights are offered?

Two standard lengths: 60 in. at 65 lbs and 72 in. at 75 lbs, chosen on the Size selector, where any price difference is shown. That makes the Cabin Pine one of the lighter reclaimed-beam profiles, though the installation guide still calls for two people to handle and hang it. Custom lengths are available on request.

How far above the fireplace should it be mounted?

Use the clearance in your fireplace manufacturer’s manual and local code; the installation guide says both must be followed. Its general guideline for non-combustible mantels is at least 6 in. above equipment under 50,000 BTU and 12 in. above equipment at or above 50,000 BTU. Mark the bottom-of-mantel line on the wall first, then work up to the bracket line.

What is in the box?

The mantel, a steel mounting bracket, pan-head screws for fixing the bracket to the studs, self-drilling screws for the pre-drilled holes in the mantel top, and a touch-up kit with filler putty, paint, and brush. The guide asks for three studs behind the bracket on the 60 in. and four on the 72 in., with screws sunk at least 1.5 in. into the stud.

Can I put the Cabin Pine mantel on a masonry wall?

The written instructions cover wood-framed walls. For masonry, the guide says to consult your fastener supplier for anchors rated to hold four times the mantel’s weight, and to consult a professional for any other wall type. Whatever the wall, fasten only through the top holes; the guide says never to screw through the bottom of the mantel.

What colors can I choose?

Five hand-painted standard colors: Maduro, Roasted Chestnut, Pale Honey, Eclipse, and Weathered Grey, shown after you pick a length. Each mantel is individually cast and painted, so the page warns of minor variances in color, weight, and final dimensions. Custom colors can be matched on request.
