Salinas Fire Pit in Corten steel: a rectangular fire table that weathers to a rust finish
The Outdoor Plus Salinas fire pit in Corten steel is a rectangular gas fire table in 48 or 60 inch lengths that arrives looking unfinished on purpose. Corten is weathering steel: outdoors it develops a tight rust finish that deepens into orange and brown, then settles and protects the steel underneath. It is the lowest-priced Salinas finish.
Order it for natural gas or propane. Light it with a match, or add electronic ignition and start it with a button. The burner, fire pan, hose, and fittings are included; a key valve, wind guard, lid, cover, and fire glass are optional. Want a fixed color? See the Salinas fire pit in powder coat. The Corten Salinas fire pit ships free from My Cozy Outdoors with No Sales Tax (except WY) and the full manufacturer warranty.

FAQ
Why does the Salinas Corten arrive looking unfinished?
Because the weather finishes it. Corten is weathering steel: exposed to rain and sun it develops a tight, protective rust patina that deepens into burnt orange and umber, then stabilizes and shields the steel underneath. Your Salinas is designed to look better after a year outside than on delivery day.
What sizes can I get?
48-inch (OPT-SALCS48) and 60-inch (OPT-SALCS60). Identical Corten construction at both sizes — decide by how much flame your seating arrangement deserves and how much patio the Salinas can claim. Both are built to order for propane or natural gas.
What ignition options are there?
The full five-option slate: Match Lit, Match Lit with Flame Sense (LC certified), Flame Sense with Spark, Low Voltage Electronic (CSA certified), and Plug and Play (CSA certified). A Match Lit Salinas needs no electricity at all — handy for remote corners of a yard.
How far from my house should the Corten Salinas sit?
Start from the ten-foot rule and the clearances in the Salinas spec sheet. As a gas unit it throws no embers, which is why codes often treat it more leniently than wood fire — but overhangs, pergolas, and combustible siding still command respect.
Will it stain my pavers?
It might in the first months: while the Corten patina forms, rain rinses rust particles onto whatever sits below, and pale concrete shows it. Park the Salinas over gravel, dark stone, or a mat until the finish stabilizes — after that, runoff diminishes to nearly nothing.
Is a backyard fire pit even allowed where I live?
For gas, almost always. Smokeless and emberless, the Salinas typically escapes the wood-fire restrictions many towns enforce, though gas-line permitting and clearance rules still apply. One call to your building department settles it — then browse the rest of our gas fire pit range while you wait on hold.
Can Corten get rained on?
Rain is part of the plan — moisture cycles are exactly what build the Salinas protective patina, so leave it uncovered while the finish develops if you want the color to come in evenly. Just dry out the burner pan before lighting after a storm.
