Saunum Air L 15: the largest Saunum for a club sized sauna
The Saunum Air L 15 is a 15 kW floor standing electric sauna heater with a built in air mixing fan. It is the largest heater Saunum makes, sized for a club or spa sauna of 530 to 812 cubic feet. Your ceiling needs to be at least 87 inches high. A quiet fan pulls hot ceiling air through an intake that extends upward. It blends that air with cooler air near the floor and returns it low in the room. This helps the lower bench feel as warm as the upper bench. Pour water over the large bed of stones for soft steam that lasts.
This is the bare heater, with the control and stones added separately. It needs the Saunum AirIQ Wi-Fi control to run, and you add that on the page. Sauna stones are sold separately, so add the 6 boxes it needs on the page. On the page you choose stainless steel or Nordic black. Want the heater, control, and stones in one order? See the Saunum Air L 15 package. The Saunum Air L 15 ships free from My Cozy Outdoors with No Sales Tax (except WY) and the full manufacturer warranty.
FAQ
What has to be added to the Air L 15 to make it work?
A control and stones, both listed on the page as sold separately and both offered here as add-ons: the AirIQ Wi-Fi control under Sauna Heater Control (Required) and rounded olivine stones under Sauna Stones (Required), sold in 33 lb boxes to fill the 265 lb capacity. The manual states the heater is intended for the AirIQ only; another control voids the warranty and UL listing.
How big a sauna will 15.2 kW heat?
The page rates it for 459 to 741 cubic feet, the largest range Saunum offers, and the Specifications tab requires an 87 inch minimum ceiling because the telescopic intake extends to 95 inches. Calculate length by width by height in feet and add for glass or masonry surfaces with the Sizing Your Saunum sheet in the Manual tab; the manual also allows only one sauna device per room.
What circuit and breaker does it need?
The Specifications tab lists 240 V single phase, 63.33 A, an 80 A circuit breaker and number 4 conductors plus neutral and ground to the control power unit, which the AirIQ manual rates for heaters up to 15.2 kW. A licensed electrician must hardwire it to the NEC and local code, never through a GFCI breaker, with cables above 40 inches in the sauna rated to at least 302 F.
How does the bare heater compare with the Air L 15 package?
Same heater, same 19 by 18.1 inch black steel body and 265 lb stone capacity. The package adds the AirIQ control and the full stone load at one price, while this listing lets you choose those items on the selectors, which suits buyers who already own compatible stones or want to configure the order piece by piece. Either way the finish is picked under Model Options.
Is it suitable for a commercial sauna?
The description positions it for a more intensively used sauna. The Includes tab lists a 2-year warranty for consumer use and the manual conditions it on a completed installation report and installation by a qualified electrician, excluding labor, elements and salt. In public use the AirIQ allows sessions up to six hours but its manual requires constant supervision by an adult who is not bathing.
What is the cool-air damper for?
The heater has an adjustable cool-air intake valve on the side about 12 inches off the floor. The manual recommends keeping it about one-third open and opening it gradually if the steam feels too harsh, which lets you soften the sauna without lowering the set temperature. Fan speed on the AirIQ adjusts how much blended air reaches the benches.
Which accessories and finish options are offered?
Model Options picks the stainless steel or black body. Operating Accessories lists the Air Deflector, the Saunum Safety Rail, which satisfies the manual guardrail requirement, and the Auto Leil water dispensing unit; salt refills, aroma oils and a bucket with ladle are separate add-ons with prices on the selectors.
