Saunum Air L 13: heat for a big family sauna
The Saunum Air L 13 is a floor standing electric sauna heater. Its 13 kW output suits a big family sauna or a small gym or spa room. It heats rooms of 424 to 565 cubic feet and needs a ceiling at least 79 inches high. The intake extends up to the ceiling to collect air where it is hottest. A quiet fan draws that air down and blends it with cooler air near the floor. It sends the mixed air back into the room down low. That helps the lower bench feel as warm as the upper one and makes the steam feel soft.
It needs the Saunum AirIQ Wi-Fi control to run, and you add that on the page. Sauna stones are sold separately, so add the 6 boxes it needs on the page. FAQ
Does the Air L 13 come with a control and stones?
No. The page notes that stones and the sauna control are sold separately, and both are offered right on this page: the Sauna Heater Control (Required) selector adds the AirIQ Wi-Fi control, and the Sauna Stones (Required) selector adds rounded olivine stones in 33 lb boxes. The heater itself ships with basket, intake, grilles, temperature sensor and seven Himalayan salt spheres.
Can I use a control from another brand?
The Air L manual states the heater is intended for use with the Saunum AirIQ only and that any other control type voids both the warranty and the UL listing. The heater cannot be connected directly to the supply; it is fed through the control power unit, which is rated for heaters up to 15.2 kW. Choose the AirIQ on this page when ordering.
What sauna volume and ceiling height suit 13 kW?
The Specifications tab lists 317 to 565 cubic feet and a minimum ceiling height of 79 inches, since the telescopic intake extends from 72.25 to 95 inches. Include an allowance for glass, tile or stone surfaces when you calculate the room, following the Sizing Your Saunum sheet in the Manual tab, and go up a size if the result sits between two heaters.
What are the electrical specs?
240 V single phase, 54 A, with the Specifications tab calling for a 70 A circuit breaker and two number 6 conductors plus neutral and ground to the power unit. Hardwiring is by a licensed electrician to the NEC and local code, the manual prohibits a GFCI breaker on this circuit, and cables above 40 inches inside the sauna must be rated to at least 302 F.
How many stones does it take and how are they loaded?
The stone capacity is 265 lb of 2 to 4 inch stones, sold in 33 lb boxes through the Sauna Stones selector on this page. The manual says to wash and dry the stones, place larger ones at the bottom to form air channels, let them support each other rather than rest on the elements, and keep every element fully covered. Restack at least yearly and replace broken pieces.
What is the difference between this heater and the Air L 13 package?
The package bundles the same heater with the AirIQ control and the full 265 lb of stones at one price. Buying the bare heater lets you build the order yourself from the selectors here, which is handy if you already have stones or want to spread the purchase, but the control and stones are still required for the heater to operate. Both versions offer the finish choice under Model Options.
How does the heater feel in use compared with a conventional sauna heater?
The big stone mass and the patented air-mixing fan are the point: the Features tab promises soft, long steam evenly spread through the room and more breathable air, and the manual recommends bathing at 149 to 176 F with water ladled about 6 to 7 ounces at a time. We purchased the 3-person sauna for our outdoor garden. We chose the cube sauna for the aesthetic and could not be happier.
I assembled by myself except for the 2 large panels (requires a few people). Instructions were good - took me two partial Saturdays to complete and a few hours to unpack and organize in advance of assembly. Had my elec. add a NEMA enclosure on the back for the controller and power for lights and a 2nd panel for the wireless control.

Norse Steam, and specifically Maya, were extremely helpful as I was making the decision for our Sauna. I was able to get all of the necessary details to make a decision as construction was happening in my backyard to make space for it.
We absolutely love the CL7G. It is extremely comfortable for 6 people (can fit more less comfortably). The Thermory Spruce and Aspen in the interior smells great. The lighting is lovely. We paired the CL7G with the Harvia Spirit 10.5kw.

Smoking Hot Tub!
I got the Norse Steam SaunaLife wood-fired hot tub, the S4N model, and its been seriously great. It heats up quicker than I expected, usually around an hour and a half, and once its hot, it stays that way for a good long while. The wood-fired system is simple to use, and honestly kind of fun.
The tub itself feels solid and well put together. The thermo-spruce exterior looks beautiful in person, and the fiberglass interior is smooth, deep, and easy to clean. Its the kind of setup that just works without a bunch of fuss, which I really appreciate.
Also, the team at Norse Steam was genuinely great to work with. Super helpful, quick to respond, and made the process really easy from start to finish. It felt like they actually cared that I was happy with it. The tub has totally become a go-to way to unwind, and I wouldnt change a thing.

Great Sauna & Purchase Experience
Great experience purchasing Finnmark FD-2 from Norse Steam. Good communication and easy to assemble. Temperature increases quickly (30 minutes or less to 140) and maintains well. So far this has been a great purchase.

Great sauna and great customer service
We purchased the Finnmark SD-1 sauna. Maya was extremely helpful with the purchase. We had an issue with the sauna not reaching the maximum temperature, and Maya connected us with the appropriate technician that explained how to correct the issue. The sauna now heats to the maximum temperature (170 degrees) in less than an hour, and it is a great unit. We are very happy with it, and we would definitely purchase from NorseSteam if we needed any other items.
