Saunum AirSolo 80: a wall mounted climate device for a sauna with a higher ceiling
The Saunum AirSolo 80 is a wall mounted climate device that mixes the air in a taller sauna and works with the heater you already own. It does not make heat, it spreads it more evenly. A quiet three speed fan draws hot, steamy air from under the ceiling through the top grille, mixes it with cooler air near the floor, and returns the blend low in the room. This helps the temperature feel the same on the upper and lower benches. The unit is brushed steel in anthracite gray with a black glass front panel. It measures 17 inches wide and 9 inches deep and stands 80 inches tall, or 85 inches with the intake grille. That puts the intake near the ceiling of a sauna 7 feet tall or taller. It weighs 66 pounds.
It plugs into a standard 120 volt outlet and works with any electric or wood burning sauna heater. You choose the fan speed with a turn switch. The box holds the unit, air transfer module, intake grille, bottom tray, seven Himalayan salt spheres, and two wall strips for hanging the unit. The salt spheres sit in a tray in the air path. An air deflector, extra salt spheres, and sweet orange, grapefruit, or eucalyptus aroma oils are optional. Lower ceiling? See the Saunum AirSolo 70. The Saunum AirSolo 80 ships free from My Cozy Outdoors with No Sales Tax (except WY) and the full manufacturer warranty.
FAQ
What does a sauna temperature and steam equalizer actually do?
The AirSolo pulls the hot, steam-laden air that collects at the ceiling through its intake, blends it with the cooler, oxygen-rich air near the floor, and pushes the mixed air back into the room. The result is a far smaller head-to-feet temperature gap, so the lower bench stops feeling cold while the upper bench stops feeling scorching. The fan has three speeds selected on a turn switch.
Will the AirSolo 80 work with the sauna heater I already own?
Yes. The page describes it as enhancing the performance of any electric sauna heater, and the Specifications tab lists a maximum room temperature of 194 F with an electric heater and 212 F with a wood-burning heater. The manual in the Manual tab adds that the unit must never be run above those limits, so check your heater and thermostat setting before pairing them.
How is it powered and who should install it?
The Specifications tab lists a 120 V supply. The installation manual calls for permanent wiring to a circuit with overcurrent and residual-current protection, installed by a person qualified to do electrical work, with the cable entering the housing from below. The unit hangs on the two included hanging strips; the manual says the wall must carry at least 77 lb and the lower edge must stay at least 4 inches above the floor.
When should the fan be running?
Only while people are in the sauna. The manual says to switch the unit on immediately before entering and off immediately after leaving, and never to run it while the room is heating or empty, because it warms the lower part of the room and can make the bench and floor too hot. Keep feet and other body parts at least 20 inches from the fan opening, and keep the area in front of it clear.
Are the Himalayan salt spheres required?
No. Seven salt spheres are included in the box and sit in a tray in the air stream so the airflow carries salt ions into the room, which the page links to skin and respiratory benefits. The manual describes them as an optional added function: if you have any health concern about a saline environment you can remove them from the tray and use the unit purely for mixing the air layers.
How do I choose between the AirSolo 80 and the AirSolo 70?
By ceiling height and wall space. This 80 model stands 80.5 inches tall, or 84.9 inches with the air intake grille fitted, and is 17.2 inches wide and 8.89 inches deep; the 70 is the shorter version of the same device. Both are listed as compatible with large and small saunas. The full Saunum range, including in-wall and heater versions, is in our Saunum collection.
What is the warranty and what add-ons are offered on this page?
The Features and Includes tabs state a 2-year limited warranty for consumer use, and the manual adds that the warranty requires installation by a qualified electrician and excludes the salt balls and normal wear. On this page you can add the Saunum Air Deflector under Operating Accessories, and a Himalayan salt refill set or sweet orange, grapefruit or eucalyptus aroma oil sets under Sauna Heater Add-Ons; pricing is shown on each selector.
