Lexington Hearth Classic: a plain wood beam look without heavy rustic texture
The Lexington Hearth Classic is a non combustible fireplace mantel with a plain wood beam look. Lexington Hearth casts it in its own non combustible mix and paints each one by hand in a wood tone. Clean lines and light edge details suit traditional rooms or a mix of old and new. The shelf is about 8 inches deep, with a face about 4 inches tall.
It is non combustible, which means the material itself will not burn, so it can usually sit closer to the fireplace than a wood mantel. Your fireplace manual and local code set the exact distance above the firebox. It comes with a steel mounting bracket, the screws, and a touch up kit for the screw holes. The bracket screws into the wall studs, the mantel slides over it, and it takes two people to hang. On the page you pick the length, 60 or 84 inches, and then one of three wood tones. Custom colors and lengths are available on request, so ask us if your wall needs a different size. Because every piece is cast and painted by hand, expect small differences in color and size from the photos. It ships 3 to 5 days after you order. Prefer a painted period style? FAQ
What style is the Classic beam mantel?
A clean, traditional wood-beam look without heavy rustic texture: tailored lines with subtle detailing on the exposed edges, finished in wood tones of Mahogany, Honey Oak, or Walnut. It is the simplest profile in the Lexington Hearth non-combustible mantel collection and suits traditional and transitional rooms where a timber mantel is wanted without splinters or combustibility.
What sizes does it come in?
60 in. (about 5 ft) at 92 lbs and 84 in. (about 7 ft) at 125 lbs, chosen on the Size selector, where any price difference is shown. The Lexington Hearth catalog linked in the Manuals tab lists the profile at 4 in. tall by 8 in. deep. Custom lengths are available on request if neither standard size fits.
Is the Classic mantel non-combustible?
Yes. It is cast in Lexington Hearth’s non-combustible proprietary formulation rather than wood, which is the reason to choose it over a real beam above a working fireplace. Clearance above the firebox still follows your fireplace manufacturer’s manual and local code; the installation guide’s general guideline is 6 in. minimum under 50,000 BTU and 12 in. at or above.
How is it installed?
With the included steel mounting bracket and fasteners. Locate the studs (three for the 60 in., four for the 84 in.), screw the bracket to them, set the mantel over the bracket with two people, and drive the self-drilling screws through the pre-drilled holes in the top surface. The guide is written for wood framing; masonry needs anchors rated for four times the load.
How soon will it ship?
The page lists a turnaround of 3 to 5 days after the order is placed, and shipping is free within the continental United States. Mantels are heavy freight items, so inspect the carton on delivery and note any damage on the driver’s paperwork; the Lexington Hearth warranty linked in the Manuals tab asks that shipping damage be reported within seven days.
Will the color look exactly like the photos?
Close, but not identical. Each Classic mantel is individually cast and hand-painted, so the page notes minor variances in color, weight, and final dimensions. Choose Mahogany, Honey Oak, or Walnut on the selector after picking the length. If you need to match existing woodwork, custom colors are available on request from a sample.
