Maya Wide Spillway Water Bowl in Hammered Copper: a square bowl with a broad copper sheet of water

The Outdoor Plus Maya wide spillway water bowl is a square hammered copper bowl whose spillway runs most of the front edge. Water leaves as one broad, glassy sheet. Choose 24, 30, or 36 inches across; the spillway grows from 20 to 30 inches with the bowl. It is hand hammered in the USA and slowly deepens toward a blue-green patina outdoors.

The wide copper spillway and a 1.5 inch smooth-flow fitting are included; a canvas cover is optional. Want a finish that stays bright? See the Maya wide spillway bowl in stainless steel. The Maya wide spillway water bowl ships free from My Cozy Outdoors with No Sales Tax (except WY) and the full manufacturer warranty.

FAQ

What does Wide Spillway mean on this Maya Water Bowl?

A dramatically stretched copper spill edge: 20 inches on the 24-inch bowl, 24 on the 30, and a full 30 inches on the 36-inch Maya. Instead of a focused pour, the Wide Spillway sheets a broad curtain of water, roughly doubling the visual output of the standard bowl.

How much water does the Wide Spillway Maya move?

About 15 gallons per minute, versus 7 to 10 for standard Maya bowls, which is what keeps that wide copper lip running full and unbroken edge to edge. Your pool builder sizes the pump and feature line accordingly; the connection is the familiar 1.5-inch Smooth Flow fitting.

What sizes does the Wide Spillway copper Maya come in?

Three: OPT-24SCXW, OPT-30SCXW, and OPT-36SCXW, at 24, 30, and 36 inches square, standing 10 to 12 inches high on 12 to 18 inch bases. All are hammered copper throughout, with the widened spillway integrated into the bowl’s front edge.

Will the hammered copper on this bowl patina?

Yes, and the wide sheet accelerates the show: constant water flow burnishes the spillway path while the hammered body mellows toward antique brown around it. Owners who want the bright look longer can clean regularly; most let the Wide Spillway Maya age gracefully.

What should my contractor plan for with this higher-flow bowl?

Capacity. At 15 gallons per minute, the Wide Spillway Maya wants a feature pump and plumbing sized for real flow, especially if you run a matched pair. It is standard pool-contractor work, but flag the GPM early so the equipment pad is specced right.

How do I winterize the Wide Spillway Maya?

Same as any copper bowl: drain the vessel and its supply plumbing at closing, then leave it mounted; frost cannot hurt solid copper. With the higher-flow line feeding this Maya, make sure the larger plumbing run is fully cleared before the freeze.

Where does the Wide Spillway Maya fit among your other bowls?

It is the showpiece tier: when a standard spill reads too modest for a long bond beam, the wide copper curtain fills the frame. Compare it against the regular-scupper versions in our water bowls category to judge which scale your wall needs.

What’s Included in Your Bowl

Every Maya ships as a complete kit — bowl, burner, fire pan, lava rock and plumbing. The only choice left is how you want to light it.

Match Lit / Manual Ignition

The classic setup: open the key valve and light the burner by hand. Nothing electric to wire or maintain — the simplest and most affordable way to run a fire bowl.

  • Lava rock media & stainless burner
  • Fire pan with coupling
  • Gas orifice (Natural Gas or Liquid Propane)
  • Whistle-free flex hose
  • Ventilating mounting bracket

Low Voltage / Electronic Ignition

Flip a switch — or wire it into your pool controls — and the pilot igniter lights the bowl for you. Every electronic ignition system runs on a safe low-voltage transformer.

  • Everything in the match lit kit, plus:
  • Pilot igniter for push-button starts
  • SWEIS electronic ignition valve
  • Low-voltage transformer
