Maya Fire Bowl in wood grain: a square concrete fire bowl that looks like timber

The Outdoor Plus Maya fire bowl in wood grain is a square gas fire bowl cast in GFRC concrete from molds with a plank texture, then finished in Ebony, Ivory, or Oak. It looks like wood but cannot burn, rot, or splinter. Choose a 24 or 30 inch bowl.

Order it for natural gas or propane. Light it with a match, or add electronic ignition and start it with a button. The fire pan, burner, mounting bracket, hose, fittings, and lava rock are included; a key valve, canvas cover, and fire glass are optional. Need a 36-inch bowl? The Maya fire bowl in smooth concrete goes one size larger. The Maya fire bowl ships free from My Cozy Outdoors with No Sales Tax (except WY) and the full manufacturer warranty.

FAQ

How real does the Wood Grain Maya look?

Convincing enough that guests touch it to check. The bowl is GFRC concrete cast from wood-textured molds, then finished in Ebony, Ivory, or Oak, so you get plank character with zero combustibility and zero rot. It is the warmest look in the Maya family, wrapped around a gas flame.

Which sizes does the Wood Grain version offer?

Two squares: 24-inch (OPT-24SWGFO) and 30-inch (OPT-30SWGFO). Note there is no 36-inch in this finish, so if you need the largest Maya footprint, look at the GFRC, copper, stainless, or powder-coated versions and keep the Wood Grain for more intimate spaces.

What are the included components and options?

Fire pan and plate, burner, nipple, mounting bracket, NG or LP orifice, whistle-free hose, and lava rock come standard, with Match Lit or Low Voltage Electronic Ignition (CSA Certified) and an optional key valve installation. Like every Maya, it is built to order for your chosen fuel.

Are backyard gas fire features allowed where wood fires are banned?

Very often, yes; that is one of the strongest cases for the Wood Grain Maya. Burn bans and smoke ordinances target wood fires, while clean gas flames typically remain legal. You get the campfire look of timber without the campfire regulation. Confirm gas line permitting with your municipality.

How hot does the flame area run?

Expect strong, grill-class warmth across the burner and comfortable radiant heat through your seating circle. The GFRC shell itself warms gently rather than becoming untouchably hot like metal can, which many families with kids consider a quiet advantage of this concrete fire pit.

Does the wood texture need special care?

No more than any GFRC finish: rinse off debris, drain the pan after storms, and cover the Maya during long idle periods. The Ebony, Ivory, and Oak tones are part of the cast surface, so there is no veneer to peel and no stain schedule to maintain.

I ordered natural gas; can it run propane someday?

The Wood Grain Maya ships configured for exactly one fuel with the matching orifice, per your order. If a future move or remodel changes your fuel situation, contact us about your specific bowl and ignition before attempting any changes; conversion is not a user-serviceable swap.

Fire Bowls Features

The Outdoor Plus — American Made Fire & Water Features

Fire Bowls

Hand-crafted gas fire bowls that turn pool walls, pilasters and patios into the warmest place in the backyard.

A fire bowl is a sealed gas fire feature — a sculptural bowl with a built-in burner that runs on natural gas or liquid propane. No firewood, no embers, no smoke chasing your guests around the patio: turn the key and you have instant, controllable flame. Every bowl in this collection is hand-made in the USA by The Outdoor Plus and arrives with the complete burner system already in the bowl.

Straight from the factory

What’s Included in Your Bowl

Every fire bowl ships as a complete kit — bowl, burner, fire pan, lava rock and plumbing. The only choice you need to make is how you want to light it.

Match Lit / Manual Ignition

The classic setup: open the key valve and light the burner by hand. Nothing electric to wire or maintain — the simplest and most affordable way to run a fire bowl.

  • Lava rock media & stainless burner
  • Fire pan with coupling
  • Gas orifice (Natural Gas or Liquid Propane)
  • Whistle-free flex hose
  • Ventilating mounting plate

Low Voltage / Electronic Ignition

Flip a switch — or wire it into your pool controls — and the pilot igniter lights the bowl for you. Every electronic ignition system runs on a safe low-voltage transformer.

  • Everything in the match lit kit, plus:
  • Pilot igniter for push-button starts
  • SWEIS electronic ignition valve
  • Low-voltage transformer

Good to Know

Natural Gas

NG bowls come with a brass orifice mounted directly under the burner. Plan the gas run so the key valve sits within arm’s reach of the bowl.

Liquid Propane

LP bowls use a brass air-mixer orifice that blends air into the propane for a cleaner-burning flame — no soot staining the bowl or the deck around it.

Lava Rock, Not Glass, for LP

Skip fire glass on propane bowls. Propane is heavier than air and can pool under dense glass media — lava rock lets it breathe. On natural gas, glass is fair game.

Mounting & Ventilation

Bowls ship with a ventilating mounting bracket that anchors the bowl and lets the enclosure breathe. Install it properly — it’s required to keep the warranty valid.

Where fire bowls shine

Designed for the Backyard

Fire bowls belong wherever you want light, warmth and drama — on pool walls and pilasters, flanking steps and spas, or standing alone on a patio pedestal or garden column.

One bowl makes a focal point; a matched pair frames a view; a row down the pool wall turns the whole backyard into a resort. Because every bowl runs on your gas line, the flame is instant, adjustable and clean — no wood to haul, no embers, no smoke.

Fill it your way: lava rock is included, or dress natural gas bowls with fire glass in dozens of colors for a jewel-like glow.
